DAY THREE
![]() Complex Population: 33 It's 8AM, and you wake from that deep, dreamless sleep that enforces curfew as always. There's breakfast avaliable in the cafeteria if you want it, as well as meals from 11AM-12PM and 7PM-8PM, but otherwise? The day is yours. Take your time to explore the complex, relax, and enjoy each others' company, as who knows what the next day has in store? Though as you explore, you may notice that there's a new door unlocked and a new place for you to spend the day. There's a workshop and tinkering lab that you can now access. It includes everything from power tools to more terminals (so no need to crowd around the commissary terminal to chat with Judy anymore). As tempting as all these tools may be, they cannot be removed from the lab. Only completed projects may be taken out of the lab. That said, it seems like someone may have already been here, as there's blood smeared on one of the terminal's keyboards. Also, anyone taking a stroll by the fountain this morning may notice something floating in the water: a boy's severed foot. This post is for the first day as defined in the schedule. This post is for general mingling and CR buidling, and will not include significant plot interaction. ic rulebook character statuses character profiles private conversations graveyard |
TALK TO JUDY

Judy, during the trial, the majority vote was for "abstain", yes? Was it a "bug" that resulted in the death of Diva?

Re: TALK TO JUDY
[So yeah, Leo's still kind of upset about the trial. Even if the result had been randomized, he can't help feeling like he had some part to play in Diva's death, and he isn't too pleased at the lack of assistance they got from Judy. Still, he's not an idiot. He knows better than to alienate the one source of information they might have. (This is why Elliot isn't allowed to do the talking.)]
I was hoping you could answer a question for me, about our community. It's something that wasn't listed on our profiles, but that's understandable. [He pauses; even though he hasn't met anyone from his country, discretion still seems like the best option.] Are we Contractors?

[Seriously, a technology lab? In an apartment complex? This place is getting more and more confusing as time goes on. Alfendi wanders in, taking a look around, but he notices the bright red splatter and approaches the terminal.]
[What pattern is the blood smeared in - is it a splatter, or on certain keys?]

Alice, never having been shy about this kind of thing, sits herself down on the fountain's edge and fishes the foot out of the water to get a better look at it. How clean is the wound? Are there any marks that might have been left over from the ankle monitor?]

When Dojima arrives and sees it he immediately rushes to the fountain, taking the foot. The hell? Better to see if there's anything to be found...and do what needs to be done with this, no way people will just leave a foot floating around the fountain forever.
Let's start by checking the point the foot was torn. How does that look like?
Later Dojima is at the new workshop, examining the tools rather closely. Once you approach, he'll ask you something:]
Apparently we can't take these tools out, but I bet the killer can. What do you think?
[The staff must have a lot of privileges, Dojima is sure about it]
no subject
[ they have far too many privileges, if you ask him. ]
Unless the killer is more meticulous than we've imagined, maybe there's some trace of them left behind on these tools.
[ because while it's a long stretch, these are the first weapon-like things that they've seen here, aside from items listed in the commissary. ]

[Some people might have trouble working up an appetite after the events of the day before. Not Alice - she's still hungry. Sure, the cafeteria food is unappetizing, but it was like that even before people started dying.
She spears a bit of soggy French toast sticks on a plastic fork and takes a bite. Yuck. Maybe for lunch she'll cook something, but that's too much effort this early in the morning.
For now, she'll observe anyone else who's coming in for breakfast.]
You sleep okay?
[Who would, in a place like this? But at least she's trying to make polite conversation...]
Tech Lab - Afternoon;
[And here she is in the tech lab... the blood on the terminal doesn't really bother her that much, and by now others are bound to have investigated it already, so she's just going to occupy herself with looking at the power tools, because of course she is.
She lingers by one of the circular saws, examining it carefully before she makes a face and mutters:]
...for some reason, just looking at this makes me really angry.

[Well, somebody is already using the technology lab, and that someone is Alfendi Layton. He's staying away from all the dangerous-looking power tools, and he only has a few pieces of wood, some nails (one of which is held between his teeth as he works), and a hammer which he's using to put the pieces of wood together.]
[His project is a little sloppy (he's no handyman), but seems to be a little box of sorts, a little bigger than a shoe box but more square than rectangular in shape. It isn't completely sealed - the top is open. He pauses, leaning back and looking over his work, before shaking his head in obvious disappointment.]
Ah, no, something's missing...
Commissary - Afternoon
[There's mumbling coming from the commissary.]
[Enter, and you'll find Alfendi sort of hunched over the terminal, the scritch-scratch of a pen being heard as he writes swiftly in a notebook next to him. The mumbling is coming from him, of course, and more or less he's just reading out the information of the profiles to himself as he writes.]
[Noticing somebody has entered the room, he shoots a dirty glare over his shoulder - his hair is messier, almost covering his eyes.]
What do you want? Get lost.
[ooc: Alfendi's Hyde side is here in this prompt for all your Hyde needs]

[It's a little past breakfast and everyone seems to be milling around. For anyone who happens to peer into the bar and lounge though they'll find sort of an interesting sight. Adam appears to be sitting on a sofa in the lounge, and sprawled across the rest of the sofa with his head in Adam's lap is Luke. Every now and then there's a little cough and a sniff as he shifts a few playing cards in his hand. Adam appears to be holding cards as well, all while letting a hand occasionally run through Luke's hair. They look fairly cozy…but they also appear to be in an argument of some kind.]
I'm not drinking that. [That, of course, appears to be some concoction created at the bar to help with Luke's cold. Adam rolls his eyes, though it's a somewhat fond gesture.]
You will if you don't want to be picked off for being the weak link.
[Luke seems to consider for a moment before he shakes his head, prodding Adam's arm with his cards. He's apparently not responding to that.] Hit or stay?
…we're playing poker, Luke.
[Interrupt them? Join them? Call them out on wasting time while there's a foot floating around? Choose your own adventure.]
Kitchen
[Later, he's leaning against a cabinet in the kitchen and sorting through all of the cans, mumbling to himself as he paws through everything. He seems more annoyed than anything but if anyone wanders in, he'll at least mumble to them.]
Out of everything in the kitchen they don't even have decent soup. Can you believe that?
Wildcard
[Luke can be found in various places in the complex including making faces at Charles' foot in the fountain, the rec room, and apartment 5! Hit me with anything else.]
lounge
though luke could look better, she reasons. ]
You two look like you're having fun.

[ If you want to see Adam in the morning, it seems he's with someone in the lounge... ]
lab, afternoon
[ Adam can of course be found in the technology lab. After inspecting all of the tools available and recognizing that they can't be taken out, he gets started on a project. It seems he's using the kit to build the little robot. He seems entirely focused on that and quite expert with the tools in hand... but at some point, he'll recognize that someone else is there. ]
Excuse me, would you pass me that? [ He points to some random tool that's called for. Apparently you've been made into an assistant. ]

[ So... it's easy to put two and two together. With the additional reveal, Elizabeth couldn't stomach to come to the scene at first. When she's finally alone, she'll take her time looking around. She wondered how a nailbat came to be and - maybe this was it. Maybe this was the room the killer had access to.
For now, Elizabeth doesn't have her attention on the assortment of woodworking products. Instead, she finds herself looking at the starter kits. She has to wonder, looking at the wiring spool and advanced robotics. Too advanced 4 her. ]
...I wonder if we could rig an alarm system up.
[ Better than barricading them into their room, that's for sure. Elizabeth could honestly, very crudely, put something together but the tools and equipment were far too advanced for her.
Come dismiss her suggestion or encourage her! ]

because his arm is lying across the table, deactivated for a moment as rhys has it opened to its wires and is fiddling around with a screwdriver inside of it. he's got a cigarette between his lips, puffing away lightly as he focuses on his work and he looks pretty relaxed for once. it's a pretty weird sight to behold.
which means you should definitely bother him. ]

Which is probably going to be better for Rhys' blood pressure, at least, since Sakyou is a pretty dang mellow person even though he just mcmurdered someone. He's been trying to get a feel for this new room since he realized people were trickling inside to check it out, but as with everything before, he's got! No dang idea what's happening!! Because he's too ye-olde!!
Which means he's definitely confused when his meanderings take him close enough to Rhys to see what he's working on.]

[Earlier that day, Mitsutada decided to order a few more ingredients (finally) for that potato soup he promised to make not too long ago. Unfortunately, since Charles... isn't here anymore, all he has now is a very sad, lonely soup and no one to share it with.
If anyone entered the kitchen now, they'd see a very cool, tall man looking particularly sad as he peers deeply into the soup... which means it's more than a good time to talk to him.]
Technology Lab - whenever that mess gets cleaned up
[He thought he could find something of use to refine his sword, since it's starting to look a little dull, but unfortunately, there's only a bunch of power tools and other dangerous things Mitsutada has no idea how to use. He also finds a few starter kits that look pretty snazzy so, OF COURSE, the most reasonable thing for him to do is to start tinkering with them!]
This thing... [He holds up a drill and immediately just powers it up. No safety equipment, no nothing.] I wonder what it does?
[There's no way he's gonna poke his other eye out at all -- probably.]
technology lab
AND HERE HE IS, SLAPPING THE POWER TOOL OUT OF MITSUTADA'S HANDS!!! Well. He slapped a turned on power drill out of the other's hands and onto the floor so the thing is now whirring around menacingly on the floor. Ookurikara notes this much and moves back so it doesn't shimmy its way over to him and he's the next one with his ankle cut off. ]

[A death in this facility...well it didn't shock her honestly. For all the amenities involved, this was still a kidnapping and situations like these lend themselves to this sort of disaster. It's that the death was of a child. A child in her room, under her care. At least, that's what she told herself.
Now she sits inside her apartment, though she left the door to it open in an absent-minded mistake, and stares to the location she arranged Charles to sleep in before his death. She can't admit that there was nothing she could do, because it would be admitting helplessness. It would be an admission of defeat. Charles may not be the last death, but the first will always carry the heaviest blow.]
community kitchen
[Veronica figures the best way to take her mind off things is to take proper stock of what they have left. So she's simply removing cans from shelves and counting inventory, lost in her own process to really take note if anyone approaches.]
