DAY THREE
![]() Complex Population: 33 It's 8AM, and you wake from that deep, dreamless sleep that enforces curfew as always. There's breakfast avaliable in the cafeteria if you want it, as well as meals from 11AM-12PM and 7PM-8PM, but otherwise? The day is yours. Take your time to explore the complex, relax, and enjoy each others' company, as who knows what the next day has in store? Though as you explore, you may notice that there's a new door unlocked and a new place for you to spend the day. There's a workshop and tinkering lab that you can now access. It includes everything from power tools to more terminals (so no need to crowd around the commissary terminal to chat with Judy anymore). As tempting as all these tools may be, they cannot be removed from the lab. Only completed projects may be taken out of the lab. That said, it seems like someone may have already been here, as there's blood smeared on one of the terminal's keyboards. Also, anyone taking a stroll by the fountain this morning may notice something floating in the water: a boy's severed foot. This post is for the first day as defined in the schedule. This post is for general mingling and CR buidling, and will not include significant plot interaction. ic rulebook character statuses character profiles private conversations graveyard |
Investigate + Top level
When Dojima arrives and sees it he immediately rushes to the fountain, taking the foot. The hell? Better to see if there's anything to be found...and do what needs to be done with this, no way people will just leave a foot floating around the fountain forever.
Let's start by checking the point the foot was torn. How does that look like?
Later Dojima is at the new workshop, examining the tools rather closely. Once you approach, he'll ask you something:]
Apparently we can't take these tools out, but I bet the killer can. What do you think?
[The staff must have a lot of privileges, Dojima is sure about it]
no subject
[ they have far too many privileges, if you ask him. ]
Unless the killer is more meticulous than we've imagined, maybe there's some trace of them left behind on these tools.
[ because while it's a long stretch, these are the first weapon-like things that they've seen here, aside from items listed in the commissary. ]

[Dojima takes a saw, looking at the ridges and blade carefully]
I have checked all these tools but I have found nothing. We're dealing with a very meticulous killer.
[Sigh]
At least we have tools now. May as well give these good use.

[ it's a shame that they've found nothing on the tools, though... that'll only end up making things tougher to figure out. he frowns a little, but on the bright side, at least they can carry some things out — even if those things can only be completed projects.
which... he doesn't know how to make, so obviously, his next course of action is — ]
Do you know how to put things together?
no subject
[And that's all Dojima can say about it, because he's no ace in chemistry]
I know a thing or two about handmade projects, but it has been a long time since I made anything. Never had time, back at home.
[And in this place we have a lot of time]
no subject
[ in both knowing zilch about chemistry and in a lack of experience when it comes to building little birdcages and robots with power tools.
and then, dazai looks thoughtful for a minute, tapping at his chin curiously. ]
Not even enough time for something like this? I can't imagine something that would eat up so much of your time — a toiling job, an addicting hobby, or something else entirely?
no subject
[At the cost of his relationship with his daughter, but he isn't exactly going to say that. He also doesn't seem that willing to go into details as to that important case he's working on]
It's also because of my job that I doubt I'd come here. I have a lot to do, I should be working on that, not supposedly accepting to rest for two months.
no subject
[ that's certainly a useful skill, given their situation; dazai makes a mental note of it. but he also opts not to ask for elaboration on that lengthy case — because solving cases is a detective's pride... or something of the sort, and he doesn't want to make him uncomfortable. ]
Maybe... you were working so hard on that case that you subconsciously wanted to rest? [ it's out there, and not too good of a guess, but he's trying. ]
Honestly, I'm surprised you even remembered what you were doing before you came here. As for me, I can't recall anything.
no subject
It seems likely. However, I am not certain how this information could benefit us. What do you think, Dojima?
no subject
That's what I'm trying to think, I can't think of a good way yet.

If I can place a barrier right before the curfew starts it should keep the tools away until the morning.

I wish that I did. It would prove useful here.

[Dojima takes a few of the tools, putting them nearby. Hammers, saws, a couple drills...everything they would need to make a barrier if they wanted, except wood]
First than all, you need to be safe. Use these. [Have goggles and gloves, Ava. We don't need you to get hurt]
no subject
[it's with a smile that she takes the goggles and gloves, putting them on quickly.]
What do we do next?
1/2
2/2
...this may be too much for a complete beginner. [Dojima takes away the electric round saw and instead gives a traditional saw, with no electric components at all]
Try to use that. You'll need to apply some force but it should be a bit easier to control...I think.
[Here, have a plank. Dojima traces a relatively straight line from end to end and holds the wood down]
Give it a try. Be careful with your fingers.

Am I doing this correctly?
no subject
[But you're doing well, Ava]
no subject
Is this better?
