DAY THREE

DAY 3
Complex Population: 33

It's 8AM, and you wake from that deep, dreamless sleep that enforces curfew as always.

There's breakfast avaliable in the cafeteria if you want it, as well as meals from 11AM-12PM and 7PM-8PM, but otherwise? The day is yours. Take your time to explore the complex, relax, and enjoy each others' company, as who knows what the next day has in store?

Though as you explore, you may notice that there's a new door unlocked and a new place for you to spend the day. There's a workshop and tinkering lab that you can now access. It includes everything from power tools to more terminals (so no need to crowd around the commissary terminal to chat with Judy anymore). As tempting as all these tools may be, they cannot be removed from the lab. Only completed projects may be taken out of the lab. That said, it seems like someone may have already been here, as there's blood smeared on one of the terminal's keyboards.

Also, anyone taking a stroll by the fountain this morning may notice something floating in the water: a boy's severed foot.

This post is for the first day as defined in the schedule. This post is for general mingling and CR buidling, and will not include significant plot interaction.

Kitchen

How come? Are you getting sick? [Which would be a perfectly normal observation were the meat anything but the preserved mush they were given]

I hope not. [ There's a frown like that's a real possibility considering he was hanging out with someone who's sick. ]

But I think even if this were some five-star meal, it's kind of hard to eat after... everything. Aren't you worried about tonight?

I'd hate for you to get sick, on top of everything else here.

[She shows no interest in using the kitchen herself, and is probably just hanging around for the sake of it, if only to distract herself.]

Naturally. The only thing I can do is to figure out how to defend myself if worst comes to worst.

I think I'll be alright. You should worry about yourself more at this point. After all, self-preservation seems to be key.

[ He frowns but continues cooking, assuming someone will want to eat it. Maybe? That reminds him... ] Your skills mentioned something about... poison? I guess that's not a very good defensive tactic, but...

It's very kind of you to worry about me, Adam. [there's some genuine gratitude in her tone, at least.]

I'm not too bad with medicine and antidotes, either, although whoever prepared my profile didn't want it to look flattering.

That's not very helpful either, is it? It's not like I can defend myself with Tylenol.

[It's her attempt to lighten the mood. Otherwise, the point Adam brings up is worrisome.]

Oh, right. I guess they're trying to make us nervous about each other. [ That relaxes him a little. It's not that weird to know about medicines and poisons, right? ]

Well... there's always striking before someone can strike you. But you'd have to be suspicious about someone first. [ He pauses. ]

Of course, knowledge about medicine is pretty useful. The easier option is to find someone you can team up with to trade skills. Someone who's better with defense.

[He's point on. She doesn't bring that up, but nods to make sure he knows she understands. It was different last time, she thinks. Memories of "last time" aren't easy to recall for some reason.]

Someone stronger and bigger, you mean? That shouldn't be too hard if you're my size. [Come on, crack a smile]

Ideally, I wouldn't want to make enemies at all. We'd all look out for one another, but that doesn't' seem to be an option right now.

[ That manages to get a small smile from him, though it's vaguely worried. She's just a kid and their last victim was just a kid. ] I know a girl who's about your size and she's pretty intimidating. I don't think anyone would mess with her.

But... no, people aren't feeling too generous right now. We have every reason not to trust each other. So you shouldn't make a deal with someone without observing them a little first. Find the people who seem really dedicated to exposing the staff members.

That's just how I've been working this out.

[She's come from a school of teenagers who fit the bill, so she can believe that. Pity she can't remember much about them for some reason.]

A deal? You mean allies. What a great idea. If it were under better circumstances, I could almost pretend it's a game. [She's not taking his words lightly, despite her airy tone. Her eyes are serious, at least.]

I'll certainly take that to heart. I may not understand what's going on yet, but I also don't want to die.

I'm sure it's a game to some people. [ He sounds mostly unamused though. He turns off the stove and taps his fingers on the counter, troubled. ]

The worst part is we don't know when they're going to strike next. We don't know how. I still suspect Charles was awake when he was caught but I can't explain why he would be out, or if someone got into his room to do it. We need to find answers before we can protect ourselves.
