trial #5
![]() Complex Population: 15 At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom. "Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level." Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need. As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in. You have until 7PM to discuss and vote for who you think the murderer is. ic rulebook character statuses character profiles Voting will close at 9PM EST on 11/5. voting |

Judy...is it within your capabilities to kill a person?

What would happen if we as a group vote for a person who isn't present in this room?
[Dojima carefully avoids to mention life or death status, that comes later]

Judy, would the staff be capable of deactivating their monitors and using their overrides without your help?

[Probably not, but it's better to ask and have the possibility of an answer than assume she won't get one and miss out on an answer by not asking.]

We need to... [Actually no, standing is hard, she's just going to sit. Their numbers have whittled down enough that she probably won't get drowned out.] ...we need to figure out how we're going to approach this trial.
I really, really want to find whoever did this to us- [Herself, Elizabeth, and Bigby, she means] -and make them suffer, but if we keep dying at the rate we have been, we'll be wiped out in just a couple more days.
So do we focus on trying to find these specific killers? Or do we try and figure out who the Overseer is so we can end this?
no subject
The Overseer should be our primary concern. We heard what Judy said. If we find the Overseer, all doors will open. We may be able to escape from this horrid place.
[Hopefully, with the remaining survivors intact. Though she's not holding her breath for that with how things are going.]
... However, I'm aware that's easier said than done. If it helps, Elizabeth was still... alive, when Shijima and I found her. She said a female did this. But— [She bites her lip.] I was unable to procure a name, or save her. I'm sorry.

[He scratches his chin - honestly, he wouldn't put it past the Overseer to be hidden in the shadows.]
A question, Alice...did you kill Guy?

[Says, Alfendi, smiling ever so pleasantly - looks like his nice side is in full control today.]
There are five staff members in total. Currently, we have discovered that Rhys, Luke, and Bigby are part of their number. Two more remain. One of them is the Overseer, as Judy stated, which is a "secondary role".
We know that there were six "other roles" present. Those six roles were divided into the security officers, the think tank, and the medical officers. We know one security officer was Dickson. Elizabeth was part of the think tank. And, last but not least, Guy and Fransizka were our medical officers. So, currently, we have one member of the think tank left, and a security officer left.
Two and two. Very convenient, really.
[He lets that all sink in, before continuing, his tone level.]
Elizabeth's role was to discover whether certain individuals were innocent or not. As dictated to me in her will, she has stated that Alice, Alvin, and Angel were confirmed to be innocent. We can take those people off the suspect table, as Elizabeth was working with Judy, who gave her accurate information.
[He pauses. Elizabeth...he can't believe she's dead.]
Now, then. We have a possible female suspect for Elizabeth and Bigby's murders. It sounds as if some sort of machine was used for Bigby's murder, at least, one with tread tracks. For Guy's murder...well, we're still piecing that together. If anyone has anything they'd like to ask or suggest, please do so at this time.

[Especially Elizabeth... he looks sad for a minute, then shakes his head minutely, trying to focus. They can mourn in private.]
I want to catch whoever did this to them, but I think our focus should be on finding the Overseer. We can deal with murderers on our own time. [Basically he's saying Alice can torture information out of them if they need it, but at least he's tactful enough (???) not to say it out loud.] The Overseer has far too much power. Even if we caught every staff member within the next hour, who's to say the Overseer wouldn't just kill us all anyway?

[Mostly from Ava, if she's being honest, but it's only fair to ask them both.]
Angel and I were confirmed innocent, and Elizabeth's reaction probably would have been different when Angel and Shijima found her if Shijima had been the killer. So, I want to hear the other two girls left here explain why we should believe they didn't have something to do with this.
And if they're convincing, then...
[She glances in the direction of the bench and the terminal. If they're convincing, maybe they can try to interrogate Judy.]

surprise!!
It was Judy! Judy killed the both of them! Bigby had to kill Elizabeth that night, and he broke the rules by trying to save her, so she came and killed the both of them!
[ there's a shock then to his ankle and he yelps, stumbling backwards with a flailing of his arms. ]
Vote for her! Then you can stop her and Ciel can let you out. He's been trying -- he's been trying this whole time for find a way around the rule. We found it! We found it. [ another bzzt ] I left -- I left something in the terminals for you!
[ and then another very sharp zap and rhys -- well, rhys faints from the pain of it all. ]

Alice doesn't trust Rhys, and oh, she is very tempted to just off him right here and now while he's passed out, but that wouldn't be as satisfying as having him be alive to scream while she kills him so... she's going to stride over there and stand over his body, whip in hand.]
I've got dibs on killing him, so back off.

If I could make a suggestion — we should continue with our plan to vote for Ciel. I'm not too keen on following Rhys's orders.

[ WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE, GOD. steve is so ready to punch him in the face but then he rudely goes and passes out. punching an unconscious rhys wouldn't be nearly as satisfying, so he's forced to sit there and stew in his incompetent rage for the rest of the evening...
and actually think about what he said, i guess?? ]
Is he for real? Then those treadmarks Angel saw...

...Are we going to trust him? [HE LOOKS DUBIOUS... Rhys is Rhys after all.]

Of course, I cannot stop anyone else from following his suggestion and voting for Judy.

terminal hacking
[In front of the only terminal in the room, that is. Accompanied by Alice, Angel will try to hack in and verify if the information Rhys spoke of is there. Time to get down to business...?]

ADMINISTRATOR MODE
OOC NOTE: As explained in this thread, this is your chance to talk to the dead and without Judy's redactions! However, these redactions might have been for your own safety...
Dead characters will be posting underneath this thread, and if their comment contains data that would have been redacted (AKA plot related details), if you respond to that comment, a mod will comment to give you consequences depending on the severity of the plot information being read. For the most part, these should be minor, and anything major will be marked appropriately, since I'm communicating with the graveyard to make sure they don't accidentally kill the whole game.
After all, death is definitely a potential side effect. :)
