trial #5
![]() Complex Population: 15 At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom. "Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level." Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need. As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in. You have until 7PM to discuss and vote for who you think the murderer is. ic rulebook character statuses character profiles Voting will close at 9PM EST on 11/5. voting |

I couldn't even keep my fucking promise to Elizabeth.

don't go wimping out on us now
find a way to get us out of here and we'll find a way to get YOU out
you and elizabeth
please bigby
[It's not often that she says "please".]
no subject
Never heard of it working the other way around.
There's a good chance you might not even like what's out there.
[ but ugh. the please gets to him more than he'd like to admit. ]
You're right. I did tell you to have faith.
You need to focus on yourself, just like you said you're used to.
... and Alfendi and Shijima, too.
no subject
so you can help us and we can help you
i'll overcome whatever's out there just like i've overcome everything else in my life
i won't let it beat me, or them
me and alfendi and shijima... it was supposed to be you and elizabeth too you know
but i won't let them die either
it would be a pain if they did

And as eager as everyone else seems to be about staying "alive", they've been dead for a little over a week at most.
Give it a few decades and they might get burnt out on the idea.
I thought I lived a longer life than most. That I'd finally be happy seeing what the big deal was with death. But...
... everyone's human, I guess.

we'll find a way to get you out of there and take you with us
[Rhys isn't dead yet (unless he woke up and killed himself while they were all distracted). She'll keep him around until he tells them how to do it.]
i'm not ready for you to be dead yet
so you better get ready to come back
you hear me?
no subject
Rhys said Judy killed you guys since you wouldn't kill the girl. Did she use the memories thing on you both?

It beats a stuffy underground facility if you get past the part where you're in a digital purgatory.
Anyway. No. She shot a fucking laser of all things at me when I shot at her instead of Elizabeth.
Was only hoping to keep her alive.
no subject
Wait you shot AT her?? Is she a robot? Thought she was a computer?
no subject
It's hard to explain. She has a brain, I guess. But she sure as shit isn't a human made of flesh and bone.
no subject
[ frankly, he's not entirely opposed to the idea of offing her so he and a few others can get out... but he can't fight the majority, and doesn't feel strongly enough about it to try. ]
no subject
Sounded hotter than I thought she would, though.
[ LAUGHS. oh, bigby ]
She can die, but yeah. I'd think carefully about voting her.
She made mention to you all about Ciel being shocked if he's alive because of his monitor.
There's no way she has anything to wrap a monitor on.

I had a feeling you were staff but I'm glad you didn't go that far.
no subject
Everything happened the way it did because they wanted to kill her.
I told her to keep a goddamn target off her back.
I'm sorry for all of the bullshit, for whatever it's worth.
no subject
Honestly, for a long time, I would've been perfectly fine with the fates of the staff. I would've killed you myself, if push came to shove. That was the justice I felt you all deserved. You killed people. And you had to be punished.
But now, it's different. You were trapped as much as we were. And I don't know, I should feel nothing different, since you all still murdered people regardless of your motivations, but...
Well, Apartment 7, for example, Any one of us could've died, but we didn't. You didn't stab us in our backs.
You didn't betray our trust in you, Bigby.
And for that...well, I can't say I'm not upset that you're gone.
no subject
Would you find it funny that the only guy I killed was Kei?
He had the right guess, but... I couldn't leave yet.
I made a promise I'd keep Elizabeth safe after Lara and Luke.
Never told the rest of the apartment, but I was hoping to do the same thing for all of you.
... which fucking Alfendi am I talking to, by the way? You're way too sympathetic.
no subject
Well, the one that's not a hothead? Sometime we'll have to come up with titles or something to differentiate us...I don't blame him for not showing up. I'm already having a terrible time with all of this.
And I want to say I'm just being logical, but at this point, it seems like I'm anything but. How odd. Seems like I have a lot to learn about myself, still.
[I'M HAVING FEELINGS LIKE I'M A KID AGAIN, YOU REMEMBER FEELINGS, RIGHT?]

Also kind of crazy.
