trial #5
![]() Complex Population: 15 At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom. "Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level." Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need. As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in. You have until 7PM to discuss and vote for who you think the murderer is. ic rulebook character statuses character profiles Voting will close at 9PM EST on 11/5. voting |

[Ciel is shady. Alice has been gunning for him since pretty much the beginning - and the timing of his disappearance is incredibly suspicious.]
If there was some way to access that before we had to vote, then...

And the Overseer has the ability to tell her what to do. If he can hear us from here, he could tell her not to stop us from accessing it.

But if he is the Overseer and can hear us, how do we know this isn't simply an attempt to stop us for voting for him and nothing more?

[Alice hates to agree with Rhys on anything, but...]
We suspect Ciel may be the Overseer. If that's the case, then he can hear us right now, and he can make it possible for Judy to allow us to access that sort of thing, or at least to answer our questions more clearly. If he doesn't want us to vote for him, he's going to have to work with us a little here.
[Sending Rhys doesn't count, everyone hates that guy.]
If we can't find anything, or if Judy tries to punish you for attempting to access it, then we vote for Ciel as we planned.

Very well. Then, would you accompany me? If I'm rendered unconscious, I would at least like a second pair of eyes to confirm what I'll find — if anything.

[Alice nods.]
Whatever's there, I want to see it with my own eyes.

If Phantomhive is a staff member and Rhys is trying to save him by lying, and we kill him, there's no downside.
If Rhys is telling the truth and Phantomhive dies...we still managed to execute a staff member. That by itself is a plus.
[Hmmmm...]
This pretty much eliminates any chance of Phantomhive being the Overseer, though. I really doubt the Overseer would take a risk like what Rhys says Phantomhive is doing - if we believe that part, that is.

If that's the case, then this timing is doubly suspicious. If he was the Overseer, then he knew we were going to vote for him. It's like how he disappeared right after we almost voted for him before.
[She crosses her arms.]
I want to know what this information is before we make a decision. Or at least - I want to try to access it.
