DAY 10 (afternoon) Complex Population: 15 At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom. "Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level." Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need. As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in. Gonna play devil's advocate here, but what are you hoping to accomplish by voting for Judy? Just curious.

Personally, I just figured it might be interesting to try and break the game. At some point, anyway.

I don't think this is the way to do it though? Do you even know what it is you're running straight toward if you get outside of the complex?

Perhaps not. I'm not certain it is, myself. And no, I rather figured we could find out once we crossed that bridge, so to speak. Does that mean you know what's outside, or are you merely warding us away from the unknown?

Of course I do. It's not worth it. I thought it was but then I remembered and now I know for certain. It's not something you want to face.

[injectors]

With all honesty? I'm not certain. But I believe it was suggested with a highly suspect promise of freedom.

[But now that they know the dead are inside of Judy's data, well... Shit.]

[chiseler]

Freedom for who, you guys? Maybe that's great for all of you still alive.

Angel...do you think any of us deserve freedom more than other people?

[injectors]

No. I believe freedom should be for everyone. No one deserves to be a prisoner, be it within this Complex or inside a machine.

[chiseler]

...there's a way, I think. Rhys and I spoke, he had plans to bring me back but knowing what's outside? It's better to be here.

Most of us are happy here, Angel. It's safer here than it is out there. I know people are going to say this isn't real, but it feels more real than any sort of memories I have of that complex.

[injectors]

The more you all speak of the outside, the more grave the situation seems. Is it really any worse than being imprisoned like this?

I know. And I believe you. Though it may sound strange, your existence doesn't feel any less real to me than it was before. You've simply become something more akin to an Artificial Intelligence, that is all.

[chiseler]

Imagine a blank canvas. Now fill it with tears and rips and something that doesn't even resemble what it once was. That's maybe close to what's out there waiting for you.

I tried to tell people that Judy wasn't real. Our existence might not feel less real to you, but I can't say the same about everyone else. We're dead. We're data.

...I don't know how much I care about continuing, but I know at least one person would be pretty pissed and wouldn't stand for it. For that, I'm gonna have to ask you to convince everyone else not to erase us. Not unless you can find a way to maybe transport us the way Rhys was gonna transport me.

I don't know what will happen to Ciel though.

Then - am I correct in assuming the end of the world is upon us? That's all that comes to mind with that description, if I may be frank.

If there's a way to transport you, then I will. I have no plans to allow all of you to remain trapped in this machine if it means your lives will be at risk, anyway. As for what will happen to Ciel, it seems no one knows. But I can't say I care for his fate as long as it doesn't affect everyone else's.

I think that depends on what you qualify as the end of the world. But yeah. Something like that.

Rhys wanted to shove me into Dumpy. Maybe something like that.

I don't know if that's fair though not to care about Ciel's fate. I'm aware he's probably done a lot to piss off everybody outside but as somebody who's made a lot of enemies just because I happened to be staff...this goes back to the freedom question.

You're wrong, Luke. Outside is better, no matter what the circumstances are.

Oh yeah? Prove it to me.

I'm not saying you're wrong but I want proof. I want answers. Not that anybody seems to care about needing proof in this place but I can ask anyway.

...I'll talk to you about this in private. I'm afraid putting it out in public might cause people's heads to explode.

Like, literally explode, given what happen to Elizabeth.

I would say "I don't care" but that's pretty callous and not entirely true. But fine. We'll take this out of the public eye.
