At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom.

"Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level."

Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need.

As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in.

You have until 7PM to discuss and vote for who you think the murderer is.

How can we help you? Is there any way?

I don't know. I've gotten the feeling we're going to be here for a while.

But it's not so bad. We're making new lives.

But we can't even try if those of us left continue getting killed.

Then stop the people who are killing. Judy killed Bigby because he broke the rules, right? So I assume the staff aren't allowed to choose not to kill.

That's why we're trying to catch the Overseer, isn't it? Wouldn't that stop the killing for good? Or is that a naive mindset?

I think it's a good bet. But I don't know for sure. I think that's the only option if you don't plan to stop our existence.

We're not going to end your existence. [That seems a safe thing to say, considering how many of you ghosts are asking to keep on keeping on.]

But we need to take this chance while we have it, I doubt it will come again. So we need you all to tell us as much as you can, while you can. We can figure out what comes next once we put an end to this ridiculous experiment.

From what Judy said, it seems like it has to capacity to kill you like it did with Elizabeth. I don't want to hurt you.

But what do you want to know? I'll see what I can do.

[If all of this is true and their loved ones are dead and gone, then Leo definitely wouldn't mind sacrificing himself for the sake of getting information. But he doesn't say that.

All of this "free them from the machine" thing is waaaay beyond his Ye Olde capabilities to understand, so he'll focus on what he does know how to deal with.]

Do even the staff know who the Overseer is? Can that be answered?

Yes. Luke told me about the staff. I believe you're on the right track.

You're on the right track with that too. You've narrowed it down well enough. I think you can do that on your own.

Then what about this--did the staff know there was nothing left of our homes outside the Complex? If they were the ones meant to survive, did they know they wouldn't be returning to anything good?

Sure we're dead but it's been better here than at the complex.

Then I am glad to hear that. I was worried that you might be worse off, wherever you are.

Is there anything you can tell us that could help us out of this bind? I want your input, as well, before we come to any decision.

But I will say that there's not much point in escaping the complex. You won't get home.

I have no home, so that is fine. But I'm sure the others won't think the same.

Then what would you suggest we do? There must be some acceptable compromise for all of us, the dead included. Perhaps not a happy ending, but something bearable.

You still have the option to vote for Ciel. I don't know what will happen, admittedly, but it probably won't kill us.

There's no doubt now that he's the Overseer, so that seems like the safest option. Or, at least, the one with less apparent repercussions.

I'm interested in seeing what will happen too. Maybe something good can come out of this.

I would hope so. I think we're all ready to see this come to an end.
