trial #5 - execution
![]() Complex Population: 15 At 7PM, a tone rings out, but it's not Judy's voice that filters out over the intercom. "TALLYING VOTES. . ." The voice is mechanical and robotic, and a pause lingers in the air. It seems that the voting system is run by some kind of AI. "CONSENSUS REACHED. MAJORITY VOTE. OVERSEER CIEL PHANTOMHIVE, EMPLOYEE ID VTMGMT62270567. STATUS: INNOCENT. CIEL, PROCEED TO THE JUDGEMENT THEATER. CHARGING..." There's the sound of clicking, though it's not Ciel that receives the shock. Rhys, who had started to stir nearby, is the one to receive it. It seems there was a last ditch effort to try and save Ciel, at least for now... But at least as promised, when everyone leaves, you'll find (almost) every door in the Complex open. "DESIGNATING EXECUTIONER. . . ALICE. ALICE, PROCEED TO THE JUDGEMENT THEATER. CHARGING..." The second person will receive the same treatment. No one else will be able to step into the judgement theater after them without receiving a nasty shock before they can step too close, and once they're both inside, the door closes behind both of them. There's a clicking sound from the walls, and the panels on the right side of the room are pulled up to reveal a thick glass that allows you to look into the Judgement Theater. It seems justice is meant to come from the the hands of the jury. ic rulebook character statuses character profiles votes |
execution
TERMS: EXECUTIONER, PLEASE SELECT TOOL FROM TERMINAL. GUILTY PARTY, PLEASE AWAIT EXECUTION. IN CASE OF NON-COMPLIANCE OF EXECUTIONER, GUILTY PARTY MAY SELECT TOOL. THIS ROOM WILL OPEN WHEN AT LEAST ONE PERSON HAS PERISHED. BIO-SENSORS PRIMED.
[ Luckily for the executioner, the guilty party here will be treated to those same nasty shocks if they try and attack their executioner or fight back. Of course, if the executioner checks out the terminal, it might not be what they expect. When they boot it up, it's no longer a list of names, but a list of something.

This thread is meant for the guilty and the executioner only.

She heads straight for the terminal, looks over her options, and nods before punching something in.]

It's about time. I've been waiting for this! ♡

when he gets there, he'll pause in the middle of the room, taking a glance towards the window and then back to alice, arms crossed over his chest. ]
I'm not going to fight you but -- but I've been telling the truth, you know. That's why I left the notes for you and Alfendi. I needed you to know my information was good so you'd help with this.

[Alice examines the nailbat curiously, then allows its weight to settle into her hands as she advances on him, her expression growing icy.]
If you really wanted me to help you, then you should have given me a different name. I've been thinking it over, you know. And I might have heard you out, but after everything that happened...
[She narrows her eyes.]
I'm really going to enjoy killing you, Rhys.

Listen, everyone. Block the exit, now. Nobody leaves this room yet.

[Says Alfendi, who is all smiles after watching a man get brutally murdered in front of him.]
[He sees where she's looking, and although he does want to follow her instruction, he can't help but pipe up and ask:]
Would you like me to restrain her?
no subject
[Alice curtsies, but she doesn't look away from Ava - she's not going to risk getting distracted and letting her get away.]
You're welcome to, but I promised Elizabeth that I would get you and Shijima out of here alive, so I need you to back off if it turns bad.
no subject
[He'll approach, too, slowly.]
Do be careful, Alice. She's quite the smart one, don't let down your guard.
no subject
All the same, she speaks calmly.]
I would think before you act, Alice.

[They've agonized over what to do and how to do it long enough. It's time for action.]
Shijima, now!
no subject
why did she take the scissors for this dumb purpose. ]

Judy, please send a shock through all of their ankle monitors now. Enough to keep them away.
[Just in time, it seems - Shijima's aim is slightly off, and the makeshift blade sinks into her shoulder. She makes a shrill noise of pain, and starts to back away from both of the girls.]

Alice is breathing heavily as she forces herself up into a sitting position, but at least she's breathing at all, and at least Alfendi and Shijima are breathing too. She accomplished what she wanted. This is fine.
When she gets to her feet, she stumbles almost immediately and has to throw out a hand to catch herself. Slowly, she turns her head to glance at the others in the room.]
Ciel is the only one left.
[She lets that sit for a moment or two.]
And he must be the Overseer. If we find him, we have to kill him.
[Another pause, this time as she tries to steady her breathing.]
...I don't believe Rhys's plan is our only way out of here. I think there might be another way. [And she'll try and find it, mostly because she thinks there's a possibility Elizabeth would want that - she only told her to get Alfendi and Shijima out, but... Well, if she can't find a third option, then there's always the option of whittling down their numbers to five.] We just have to find it.
I'm going to get out of this place. You can follow me if you want. I'll only kill you if you get in my way.

server farm!
[Alice has been grumbling under her breath the whole way up, but ultimately, she doesn't really have anyone to blame for this but herself - she's the one who noticed Leo hobbling around and offered to carry him up. So in spite of her injuries, she sure is piggybacking him into the server room.]
I'm just curious to see if you'll even be able to notice anything with your eyes hidden under that mop of hair of yours, that's all.
[...while being passive-aggressive, because of course she is. Anyway, she's lugging him in here so they can take a look around together.]

[His tone is dry; normally he would've returned her offer with two fingers up (not his thumbs), but it's not like he has any dignity left, at this rate. There's no way he's going to make it up all those stairs all on his own, even without the time limit of the ankle monitors--and damn his curiosity, but he wants to see.]
Really? It's been ten days, and now you're wondering if I can see anything?
no subject
[Grumble, grumble.
...but no, Leo absolutely doesn't have any dignity. Alice has already seen him at what's arguably been his worst, though, so she figures it's fine if he sees her when she's injured and not feeling great. At least even with her injuries she can still lift this twig.]
Look, it's- [And she's distracted from making passagg swipes at him by passing the servers and seeing the odd devices on the walls.] What the... What the heck are those?

However, one doesn't turn into a detective by ignoring what seems barren and without interest. That's why Dojima decides to take a chance and go inside. All these screens, the machines...it does resemble a bit the modern technology he knows, at least at first sight. He's more than prepared to find out it's much more complicated than anything he knows.
Anything left that could be useful? Objects, trinkets, documents, anything like that?]

The technology lab is there, that sounds like a good place to check what the radio will reveal. Is there even such thing as 'radio' outside anymore?]
