trial #5 - execution
![]() Complex Population: 15 At 7PM, a tone rings out, but it's not Judy's voice that filters out over the intercom. "TALLYING VOTES. . ." The voice is mechanical and robotic, and a pause lingers in the air. It seems that the voting system is run by some kind of AI. "CONSENSUS REACHED. MAJORITY VOTE. OVERSEER CIEL PHANTOMHIVE, EMPLOYEE ID VTMGMT62270567. STATUS: INNOCENT. CIEL, PROCEED TO THE JUDGEMENT THEATER. CHARGING..." There's the sound of clicking, though it's not Ciel that receives the shock. Rhys, who had started to stir nearby, is the one to receive it. It seems there was a last ditch effort to try and save Ciel, at least for now... But at least as promised, when everyone leaves, you'll find (almost) every door in the Complex open. "DESIGNATING EXECUTIONER. . . ALICE. ALICE, PROCEED TO THE JUDGEMENT THEATER. CHARGING..." The second person will receive the same treatment. No one else will be able to step into the judgement theater after them without receiving a nasty shock before they can step too close, and once they're both inside, the door closes behind both of them. There's a clicking sound from the walls, and the panels on the right side of the room are pulled up to reveal a thick glass that allows you to look into the Judgement Theater. It seems justice is meant to come from the the hands of the jury. ic rulebook character statuses character profiles votes |

[She feels like she knows where this is going to go.
Rhys being willing to lay down and die was the exception, not the rule. Alice is prepared for a struggle, and maybe she's a little overconfident - she lunges forward with her scalpel in hand, and the electricity sends her to her knees, sends the scalpel clattering out of her hand.
Gritting her teeth, she glares up at Ava and struggles to her feet, thrusting her hand into her other pocket.]
You think you can- you think you can stop this? You'll... you'll get what's coming to you!
[She lunges for Ava again, reaching up to grab her by the shoulder, to try and shove something into her mouth - but she cries out when there's another shock, and nine white pills drop out of her hand and scatter on the ground. Alive drops a moment later, angling her head to glare at Ava.
...she sees Alfendi a moment later, flaming from him to the pills to Ava as quickly as she can.]
Alfie... make sure she suffers like we did...!
[If she's going down she wants to make damn sure Ava suffers for as long as she's left alive. She's that petty.]

[ the shocks are harder to ignore than the headaches, and shijima isn't willing to get closer to ava until she's down for the count. while her aim is unimpaired (...shocks aside) her strength is much lower with the power cap, and she's tiny enough that she can be overpowered by most people if she got in their reach and they were trying.
so she's not approaching again, although she risks another shock to hurl the other half of the scissors as a distraction. and, honestly, an attempt to do more damage though her hand is shaky enough she can't hit a vital point. shit. ]
You do it!

When Alfendi grabs her by the neck, she's surprised for a moment before grabbing the half of the scissors embedded in her shoulder. With a cry of pain, she pulls it out and brings it down, hard, into the arm that has her bound. If she feels his grip relax, she'll push him away hard.
When Alice falls, she aims a kick at her face - but that's when Shijima throws her second projectile. It sinks into Ava's leg, and the kick doesn't land. The pain in her leg and her shoulder distract for a moment.]

[The scissor blade pierces his skin and he lets out a choked cry of pain, blood already running from the wound. The shocks are still going. His head is pounding. He's pushed backwards, and somehow, by the skin of his teeth, he doesn't manage to fall down.]
[The pain again disappears more quickly than it should, allowing him a brief respite to see and hear the pills clattering to the floor. Yes, of course. The mystery drugs. Those damned things. He pulls out the scissor blade, casting it aside to the floor with a growl, before he reaches forward again with his uninjured arm, scooping up several of the pills and pushing himself forward just in time to catch Ava when she's distracted.]
Don't you dare hurt them.
[Is all he says, the brief glimpse of a pleasant, cold smile on his face as he wraps his aching, bleeding arm around her shoulders again, this time reaching up with his hand to pinch her nose as tight as he can to get her to open her mouth. Without even waiting, he shoves his handful of pills into it, clasping his hand over her lips and making sure she doesn't spit them out if he can help it.]
[His tone is ever so light. It's almost cheerful.]
Do be a dear and swallow these for me, would you?

[Ava's kick misses its mark, which Alice is grateful for, and somewhere through the haze of pain from the shocks she's aware of something - if she's close enough to be kicked at, she's close enough to grab her.
It takes tremendous effort, but she pulls herself forward by her elbows, sweeps up the discarded scissor blade into one hand, and loops one arm around her legs to hold tight. Her other hand brings the blade up and then jabs it sharply into her foot.]

so while she knows she's committing to a great deal of pain she lunges forward to grapple for one of ava's arms, because alfendi sure did get stabbed and that shouldn't be allowed again. ]

It's at that moment that Alice shoves the scissor blade into her foot. She screams, and kicks at Alice as well as she can - it's not as strong as she would like, given the way her legs are being held. She's hoping an edge of the scissors protruding from her foot will at least cause a cut.
For now, she pays no mind to Shijima. Her free hand goes up to her mouth, to get the pills out of her system, and she - misses, her coordination failing her. She feels weak all of a sudden, heart pounding, focus fading.]
Judy—
[Kill them is on her lips, but she suddenly feels as though she can't breathe. No. If she's dying, she is taking them with her.]
J...
[She presses her free hand to her chest. It hurts so much, so much. She can feel it racing, beating impossibly fast, her breath coming in deep, shaky inhales--
Until it stops altogether. Her eyes widen, and her hand flies towards Shijima for support, nails digging into wherever she manages to grab. She feels like she's falling. No, no—
It isn't long until she loses consciousness.]

[He's honestly surprised when she suddenly slumps in his arms. He blinks, shuddering from the pure anxiety of what just happened, and with his bleeding, bitten hand, he checks her pulse. Nothing.]
[She's dead.]
Dead...? [He says, with a murmur, before he just...drops her, his arms suddenly weak. Dead. Dead as dead can be. He wobbles in place before he just falls to his knees, hands splayed on the floor as he just shudders, blinking back sudden tears. His head is pounding with a renewed vigor.]
Ha, I didn't...expect that. Just thought she'd have the side effects... [Another laugh, as he pulls his head up, giving the girls a warm smile. Blood is trickling down his hand and arm on the floor. He pays it no mind.]
Are you two alright?
no subject
Ah... huh...?
[Alice blinks in surprise when Ava's body gets dumped off to the side, and she wrenches her arm out from where she'd been latched onto her legs. She's not really in the mood to take a nap under a corpse at the moment.
It hits her, then, that they did it. They really did it, and she chuckles weakly before flashing a smile up at Alfendi.]
Never... been better. What about you?

[ or...nail marks. but shijima huffs a sigh and goes about collecting her sharp pointy objects, since that's always a priority. she just...wipes the blood off on ava's clothes...
shijima that's disrespectful ]
Good job.

[He wipes at his eyes with his uninjured hand, suddenly looking very weary. He murdered another person, and if he has to be honest? He doesn't feel much of anything at all. He even feels pleased, like he accomplished something he was going to do, anyways.]
Let's get back to the apartment, shall we? [He says, letting out a little chuckle, like he didn't just cross the moral horizon a few seconds ago. He looks down at his wounded arm.]
I think I need to rest for a little bit. Either way, you two were excellent.
