DAY 10 (evening) Complex Population: 15 At 7PM, a tone rings out, but it's not Judy's voice that filters out over the intercom. "TALLYING VOTES. . ." The voice is mechanical and robotic, and a pause lingers in the air. It seems that the voting system is run by some kind of AI. "CONSENSUS REACHED. MAJORITY VOTE. OVERSEER CIEL PHANTOMHIVE, EMPLOYEE ID VTMGMT62270567. STATUS: INNOCENT. CIEL, PROCEED TO THE JUDGEMENT THEATER. CHARGING..." There's the sound of clicking, though it's not Ciel that receives the shock. Rhys, who had started to stir nearby, is the one to receive it. It seems there was a last ditch effort to try and save Ciel, at least for now... But at least as promised, when everyone leaves, you'll find (almost) every door in the Complex open. "DESIGNATING EXECUTIONER. . . ALICE. ALICE, PROCEED TO THE JUDGEMENT THEATER. CHARGING..." The second person will receive the same treatment. No one else will be able to step into the judgement theater after them without receiving a nasty shock before they can step too close, and once they're both inside, the door closes behind both of them. There's a clicking sound from the walls, and the panels on the right side of the room are pulled up to reveal a thick glass that allows you to look into the Judgement Theater. [ With many more doors now open, there's time to explore before you're forced back to your rooms for curfew. So where will you go look? ]

[ SHE WILL TAKE ALL THESE STUPID BANDAGES, WHICH SHE HAS WANTED FOR WEEKS but i guess also shijima will look around the rest of the office, just in case.

but for the record she is also stealing the bandages because she needs those? ]

[ The office is pretty sparse. In fact, other than a few medical supplies, it doesn't look like this office was really even used much at all. ]

[ are the bandages the only supplies or is there actually anything else. SHE HAS TO SEW UP A FEW CUTS AFTER THIS, so she's invested in the answer, oops ]

[ Nope! At this point, only bandages are left. ]

[Alice has been grumbling under her breath the whole way up, but ultimately, she doesn't really have anyone to blame for this but herself - she's the one who noticed Leo hobbling around and offered to carry him up. So in spite of her injuries, she sure is piggybacking him into the server room.]

I'm just curious to see if you'll even be able to notice anything with your eyes hidden under that mop of hair of yours, that's all.

[...while being passive-aggressive, because of course she is. Anyway, she's lugging him in here so they can take a look around together.]

Don't worry, I wouldn't dream of making such an assumption.

[His tone is dry; normally he would've returned her offer with two fingers up (not his thumbs), but it's not like he has any dignity left, at this rate. There's no way he's going to make it up all those stairs all on his own, even without the time limit of the ankle monitors--and damn his curiosity, but he wants to see.]

Really? It's been ten days, and now you're wondering if I can see anything?

Maybe I'll just leave you up here tonight.

...but no, Leo absolutely doesn't have any dignity. Alice has already seen him at what's arguably been his worst, though, so she figures it's fine if he sees her when she's injured and not feeling great. At least even with her injuries she can still lift this twig.]

Look, it's- [And she's distracted from making passagg swipes at him by passing the servers and seeing the odd devices on the walls.] What the... What the heck are those?

Fine by me. The library's closer from here. [Leo, is now really the time to be concerned about libraries... yes, apparently. His priorities haven't changed. And hey, he may not have congratulated her on a job well done, but he isn't giving her shit about her injuries, either. That's about as good as it gets for these two.

Maybe some other time, he would've actually bothered to explain the whole point of his hair and his glasses. Or maybe not. It's not exactly something he's ever made common knowledge. But she's about to have an answer to her question, more or less.]

Why would... [You have objects that strange in a room like this, he wonders, but so much of this is confusing and new that he trails off, also distracted. For the first time, he lifts a hand to take his glasses off to see better, exposing his eyes. She can't see their strange color, but even if she could have, they've obviously got more pressing things to deal with.] They look like... [He pauses, searching for a good word, but all that comes to mind is--] pods.

[ The "pods" are all open at this point, though the number might stick out to them. There's one for every resident here. ]

...Judy said the dead were stored on her... databases. Or something like that.

[Alice is not the most tech-savvy person in the world. Magitechnology in general isn't her forte, though she is somewhat familiar with it. Enough to have been able to adapt some of the technology from her home to suit her own purposes.

But it sure doesn't look like these things run on mana, so they're a little out of her depth, even if they are sort of reminiscent of what one might find at a human ranch. Considering she's got a human on her back maybe she should keep that to herself.]

So then, this might be... [The pods look big enough to fit people in them.] This might be how they... got there.

I don't know... some of the bodies were... not in the best shape, weren't they? [Corpse salsa... he wasn't there to see it but he heard about it.]

It could be how they brought us to this complex in the first place, though. [He's quiet for a minute, brooding on that.] I asked Judy, once if we weren't allowed to leave, or if it was physically impossible. She wouldn't answer. I always thought that meant the latter, but... they had to get us all here somehow.

Well, no, but... if they're data, the data had to come from somewhere, right? And we don't know what happened to us before we woke up here.

[Alice studies the pods from a distance before creeping closer to get a better look at them. Do they all look more or less the same, or are there any noticeable differences between any of them?]

If they used these to get data from us somehow before the experiment began, then all they'd have to do would be... to activate it on the server, somehow.

[A pause...]

I wonder if you'd still be missing a foot on the other side, if you died.

[ The pods are all completely identical. There are no discernible differences between any of them. ]

I don't understand how they could do that. [He admits, which isn't really surprising. All of this is so far out of his realm of understanding, but he's doing his best.

Are they connected to anything, or do they stand alone in the room?]

If they were scientists worth their salt, then they needed a way to continue collecting data during the experiment, didn't they? [The monitors.] So I suppose it would depend on... what... point in time the data was from. The last thing they'd recorded. [Or something. Maybe? HE'S TRYING.]

...I don't either.

[And it's not like she really likes admitting that, but it's the truth.]

But Veronica was whole, wasn't she? Or at least, I assume she was, if she was managing to talk to us somehow. So whatever they had on file for her was taken before she got chopped up.

[She wants to start poking around, but that's easier said than done with her hands occupied keeping Leo up. So:]

I'm going to put you in one of them so I can have my hands free, okay? Tell me what you see from the inside.

[He better protest if he doesn't want her to actually do that, because she's walking up to one and turning so that she can deposit him into it. Why.]

[ They're connected to the wall, but that's it. Beyond that, they would have to check inside the wall itself, but they should probably be careful doing so. To be clear OOC, damaging things in this room could have consequences for the graveyard. ]

[Good thing Leo is too immobile to stumble around breaking things.

Anyway, he sighs, but he doesn't actually protest. She'd have to put him down if she were to climb in there anyway, so whatever.]

Just try not to "forget" me in there, will you? [Because that is absolutely something she would do HE KNOWS YOU ALICE, HE KNOWS YOUR PASSAGG WAYS.]

[And with that, she sets him down into one of the pods before heading over to crouch down and examine the points where they connect to the wall. She's being very careful because she already thinks this place might have something to do with the dead people, so no risk of property damage from her, at least.

Don't break anything or she'll seriously kill you, Leo.]

[HE WON'T.

Is there anything interesting for him to see in there?]

[ They're thick, heavy cables, but there's nothing about the connections themselves that they'd be able to glean any information from.

As for the pods, there's nothing in particular about the pod itself other than the fact that it is quite comfortable to sit in. They could close the pod and see what happens, but this may not be a good idea before they figure out what they are. Maybe this information is somewhere else in the Complex... ]

I don't see anything. [And not because of his hair, ya wench.] It just seems like something to rest in.

Communications Office

[Well look at this place. It looks rather barren, and at first sight it seems there's nothing of interest.

However, one doesn't turn into a detective by ignoring what seems barren and without interest. That's why Dojima decides to take a chance and go inside. All these screens, the machines...it does resemble a bit the modern technology he knows, at least at first sight. He's more than prepared to find out it's much more complicated than anything he knows.

Anything left that could be useful? Objects, trinkets, documents, anything like that?]

[ Nope... There is truly nothing of interest in here. However, if Dojima chooses to take one of the radios or televions, he can probably plug them in elsewhere. ]

[May as well do that, then. Since taking a television is going to be nightmare to take down two floors when he still has fresh wounds on his legs, he'll settle for a radio, and try to bring it to the second floor.

The technology lab is there, that sounds like a good place to check what the radio will reveal. Is there even such thing as 'radio' outside anymore?]
