DAY 6 (afternoon)

At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom.

"Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level."

Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need.

As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in.

You have until 7PM to discuss and vote for who you think the murderer is.

Look, I wasn't here to know the whole story, loverboy. [He leers.] But I was "down to the wire", I said, so "I had to go with my gut". And it looked like my gut instinct was correct. He was staff. That's that.

Staff who didn't do anything. You just killed an innocent boy.

Ah, but was he not complicit with the murders of two children? He may not have dealt the final blow, but he allowed them to, if the information I've read is correct. That's hardly "innocent". He also murdered one person and almost murdered another in his execution, and showed no remorse for his actions.

Your boyfriend wasn't squeaky clean, loverboy.

The information is sound. He killed Lara Croft, an innocent, and attempted to kill Elizabeth as well. He is no innocent. But I believe the Staff would see it differently.

You don't know any more than I do about how they kill. He might not have been told who they were going to kill, he might have been. You can't blame him for anything because no one asked him.

... And you obviously have the wrong information if you think he didn't feel guilty about killing Lara. He couldn't even look at her while he did it.

[Alfendi, not everyone knows about your stupid Jekyll and Hyde deal.]

[He pauses a bit, his skin pale (he looks exhausted), but he shakes his head and turns a few pages in his notebook, clearing his throat and reading aloud:]

"I asked Adam and Luke about how they would feel if the other was a staff member. Both were somber about this possibility, but both told me that they would do whatever they can to catch the staff members and stop the murders from happening.

Adam even said, and I quote "I don't want to be with someone who's a murderer and I doubt Luke wants that either."

[He lets out a laugh at that, like he's just read a very nice joke.]

Well now, Adam Parrish. Is love really that blind?

Luke didn't murder anyone until he was forced to and guess what? I'm not with him anymore, so thanks for that.

Based on this quote, you already considered staff members murderers, and now, suddenly, Luke is an exception? Was he the lost little lamb in the midst of wolves?

Of course, I know you're going to say "he was innocent"! Which is true. But this is hardly your hill to die on, moron. I almost suspect you don't even care if the rest of us die. Or maybe with new information that was presented to us, the fact that Luke was listed as innocent, I realized that the staff members aren't all murderers.

[ Adam's face remains blank. Looks like he's already had enough emotion for the rest of his life. ]

I would have if I were allowed. But now I guess I have to deal with you putting words in my mouth. If you can't stay calm, maybe you should go in a time out?

[He suddenly looks green, like he's about to throw up, and just covers his mouth for a moment, shuddering. When it passes, he just shakes his head.]

If you're trying to get us to kill you in some kind of bizarre revenge-filled suicide so you can join him, then you're a fool.

Trust me, I don't doubt everyone's ability to vote for the wrong person.

By the way, you look like this is affecting you more than anyone else.

This is not the time to argue about Parrish and Castellan's...whatever they had going on.

Focus on the actual case.

[Well, Dojima can't deny there are reasons to suspect Adam, but he currently doesn't think Adam is a staff member, which is why he's trying to divert the attention away.

This is the case. We need to find a person we suspect of being staff before the end of the trial. Or do you suggest we just do whatever as we have the past two times?

This brat is going to get us all killed, with his attitude. Even if he isn't staff, he's the one being distracting from the real issues.

Also, don't you think it's strange that Franziska was the one who died after she narrowed down her list to include Luke?

If you're going to make these accusations, be certain your logic is sound.

[ She's neither for or against this logic, but she wants to make sure no one else gets wrapped up into it - look what happened with Lara. ]

[He just chuckles - is this all a game to him? Who knows.]

I operate on nothing but logic. Elizabeth, right? I don't have time for people who try to use emotions to obscure the truth. [A beat.] But don't worry, I'm hardly accusing him yet.

[ She's lifting one finger up, trying to reel him in to focus on her. To command his attention. ]

If you're going to do so, be certain it sticks. Forget emotions, I do not believe Adam is gearing up as such. The trail you're sniffing down can implicate both me and Bigby. Luke and Lara had their problems with the woman but now they're dead. Adam, Bigby, and myself all pool into that bitterness with Franziska.

[ She's calm, not showing any fangs yet. ]

Let's avoid trying to get innocents killed unless the theory is sound, is all I'm implying.

I don't deny that. [Dojima glances at Adam for a moment. Really, buddy, he understands you're still dealing with Luke's death, but you need to start caring] But you're not going to convince him to care more by tearing him apart. This is not the time to talk about it.

It's no surprise. I myself thought von Karma was likely to be the next person to die, if only because the staff would have wanted revenge towards the person who got one of their own under the spotlight like that.

[Said rather prudently, in case Alfendi is going to try to create some logic based on that. If the staff was acting out of a desire to avenge Luke, then Franziska actually being one of those six must have been one fun bonus]

Why are you doing this, Adam?

I know you're upset about Luke, but there's nothing anyone can do about it abymore. What you're doing right ow us making yourself look suspicious.

Obviously I don't care about that or I wouldn't have said anything.

I care more about those here who have killed innocent people but still think Luke is somehow worse than them.

I get it. I do. But this entire set-up is about finding the staff, that's what Judy wants us to think is the biggest threat here. Do you think you can convince anyone they were wrong to try to survive? Do you really wanted to be potentially voted off over this argument?

[Sure, Adam could be staff too. The thought occurs to him. But he doesn't think a staff member would out himself do obviously]

[But hey, Franziska did and she was the anti-staff. So who knows?]

Abstaining didn't do anything to people last time. And like I said, I don't care how people vote. They're not going to be smart about this, they're going to choose whoever someone else tells them to.

You could die if enough people jump on you for this. You're telling me you don't care about that?
