trial #3

DAY 6 (afternoon)
Complex Population: 27

At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom.

"Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level."

Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need.

As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in.

You have until 7PM to discuss and vote for who you think the murderer is.

[ Adam's face remains blank. Looks like he's already had enough emotion for the rest of his life. ]

I would have if I were allowed. But now I guess I have to deal with you putting words in my mouth. If you can't stay calm, maybe you should go in a time out?

Ha! That's rich. The little loverboy telling me to go in a time out!

[He suddenly looks green, like he's about to throw up, and just covers his mouth for a moment, shuddering. When it passes, he just shakes his head.]

If you're trying to get us to kill you in some kind of bizarre revenge-filled suicide so you can join him, then you're a fool.

Trust me, I don't doubt everyone's ability to vote for the wrong person.

By the way, you look like this is affecting you more than anyone else.
selfdenying: (then you're cold)

Then why aren't you defending yourself? Are you just that much of an idiot?

[He shakes his head.]

If you're trying to rile me up by insulting me, it won't work. I feel nothing but pity for you. Anything you say just makes you look more pathetic.

What can I say? Everyone has already shown they don't care about listening to logic and just want to vote for whoever the loudest person tells them to.

[ There's a pause. ] No, I'm like actually telling you that you look like you're about to be sick and I don't want to watch that.
selfdenying: (we fight we make up)

I'm not telling them to vote for you, loverboy! I'm cornering you, there's a difference, but not once have I said "Adam Parrish is a staff member", have I? I never state anything unless I'm absolutely sure of it.

[He lets out a strained laugh.]

Enough about me. Besides, now I wonder...maybe this is all just a distraction. You're an easy target now, with your insistence on keeping the memory of your boyfriend alive. Maybe it's intentional. Maybe it isn't. But either way, don't think I'm just focused on you, and you alone.

I didn't say that would be you.

Also, I didn't do anything but comment on something you said. Everyone else has come after me for that.
