DAY 6 (afternoon) Complex Population: 27 At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom. "Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level." Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need. As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in. I disagree on Adam. Staff members wouldn't passionately defend each other like that in front of open crowds.

As far as whoever we vote for, I do believe we should be straight forward with our choice. If anyone cares, I could give the name Franziska told me but I'm not going to claim she's absolute.

Consider yourself excluded until you stop being an asshole. Luke may have been your friend, or something more, but he was still staff. We'll discuss this later but if all you're doing is pissing people off, then cut it out.

But you're acting like an asshole while you do it. Again, I'm going to talk to you about this later, but I do genuinely believe you're not staff just because you cared about Luke.

One would think the anti-staff wouldn't make themselves targets, either. Assuming everyone is capable of subterfuge is clearly not a thing we can do.

May as well give the name, with the caveat that there's a fair chance Franziska was just guessing like she was when she named Lara.

Yeah but I did say I would give that person a fair shake today, to see how i felt. Honestly? Wasn't impressed.

But if everyone seems to agree - the person was Alvin. And like I said, I did want to give him some benefit of the doubt, but his reason of voting for Franziska was less than impressive.

If he was a staff member, why wouldn't he have just voted for Lara? She was the second most likely to get voted for aside from Luke. By voting for Franzy instead, he made it possible for a staff member to get executed along with her.

That may be true, but we may be considering the likelihood of staff coordination too much. Even Franziska voted for Lara after all. To assume all staff did might be misleading.

And votes aren't everything. He's the kind of guy who never seems to want to share his opinions, but insist everyone else gives them.

Could that be a judge of character, I wonder...? I do believe Alvin's a bit flighty... but he's helped when I've assisted.

He doesn't really seem all that suspicious to me. I mean, there is that bit in his profile, but... that seems like the kind of thing that's meant to make us suspect him, don't you think?

The kind of thing someone who works for this company might put in someone's profile to deflect suspicions from themselves.

I dislike Alvin but I'm not sure what I think his loyalties might be. He did suggest the abstention vote idea, but kept insisting it wasn't "his" idea. That's why I was refusing to go along with it at first...he kept not wanting credit for something we only considered because of him.

Taking credit also means taking blame if shit hits the fan.

When pressed, sure. Franziska told me she found it strange that he opened the floor to suggestions without offering his own, and then seemed willing to point to Leo when it got brought up again.

Well, maybe shady's a strong word. More like... shifty. Flighty, like Elizabeth said. I barely know him, so I can't say anything for sure..... but I don't know. Franziska was wrong about Lara.

No, no, it's fine. I understand what you mean, and I do agree that he certainly is... something. [Taps chin.] But gossiping about him really won't help!

I believe in Alvin this round. The few times I spoke to him, I could really sense he's a good person at heart.

And she was right about Luke, so how about you offer other ideas if you think Alvin might be innocent.
