trial #3

DAY 6 (afternoon)
Complex Population: 27

At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom.

"Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level."

Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need.

As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in.

You have until 7PM to discuss and vote for who you think the murderer is.

Someone else can look for her body, because I don't want anything to do with that water, and if that eyepatch kid was correct about it we'd have to deal with it...someone who already got sick can look.
liven: art credit unknown, please contact (CHAT ► well that's dumb.)

Perhaps? We'll find out later, I guess.
alittlemaster: (Now I pay the price)

When you went into the room to check Franziska, did you notice anything unusual about the body or how she had been killed?
grimdeity: (UNIMPRESSED 🌹 nah son)

[personal profile] grimdeity 2016-10-22 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, isn't that just lovely. I always wanted to be afraid of unaffiliated mercenaries in additions to teams of mystery people committing murders.

[Sneezing into her elbow, but. Also. What the heck.]

So not only must we worry about the staff, but about two individuals who are arming others and allowing them to decide who may or may not be suspicious. As if our position wasn't precarious enough.

I voted for him.

[Alfendi has his notebook open for reference - he taps at a page filled with nothing but coded words. He wasn't here for the vote...at least, not him, but his other self.]

Apparently, I suspected him after his lackluster excuses for his sickness and his sudden relationship with Adam Parrish. I even told others about it afterward.

Besides her foot remaining intact? [ She says with a relief. ] The method looked different, I'd say. Less gorey, less calculated. I'd wager it was more of a sloppy kill with a blunt item.

[ Maybe Franziska was on to the staff? ]

We do not need self-righteous vigilantes.

[ Elizabeth says coldly. ]
selfdenying: (then you're cold)

[personal profile] selfdenying 2016-10-22 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha! That airhead thought he could play vigilante after a little bird whispered into his ear. Ugh, I've never heard anything more stupid in my life. What made him think to trust someone's word, huh? All he got was his own death for his own damn troubles.
liven: (SERIOUS ► i understand.)

[personal profile] liven 2016-10-22 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
We don't need any kind of vigilante, unless their aim is a bit better and they actually find a staff member.

[ dryly. ]

[personal profile] selfdenying 2016-10-22 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Not only that, but mercenaries who think they're doing the right thing. What did that moron even get out of it? The satisfaction that he might have killed a man who wasn't even guilty? He must have left his brain behind on that night.

Miss, you win the award for oddest thing ever said to me in a conversation.

[ ANYWAY.

She'll nod. ]

But the stakes are a little high here. Does anyone have time to even be petty?

[ Adam has been quiet so far but Luke is still a sore spot... ]

Those are stupid reasons to murder someone for.
liven: (BORED ► over the shoulder. yep.)

Honestly, his main mistake was not making the first blow lethal. Though I also do not believe Bigby to have been a good target to start with.
selfdenying: (you're in then you're out)

[personal profile] selfdenying 2016-10-22 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Look, I wasn't here to know the whole story, loverboy. [He leers.] But I was "down to the wire", I said, so "I had to go with my gut". And it looked like my gut instinct was correct. He was staff. That's that.
grimdeity: (UNIMPRESSED 🌹 nah son)

[personal profile] grimdeity 2016-10-22 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think "afraid" is the correct term. I think she made herself a target for them, unfortunately, by being so headstrong last trial. Not that that was wrong of her, of course. But it does appeared to have gotten her killed.

I would comment upon our morality in this place, but we don't have the time to discuss it at length. [ which is a pity because rose loves to discuss that shit at length. ]

At the time I stated my vote would be for Luke or Elizabeth. I voted Luke, in the end. I won't pretend I had much reason for voting Luke over Elizabeth, except purely superficial reasons. [ read: gay reasons ]

I would of course love to hear the name of the person she suspected, though I'm not certain I would care to advise you say it to the group, given what happened to Miss von Karma. But what you do is your own choice. I do agree we need to communicate as best we can, since otherwise these trials serve no purpose whatsoever.

They'll get themselves killed or an innocent. I made the same threat to Franziska - if there's an innocent murdered because of someone's ego...

[ She'll act. Shrug? ]

We don't have the time or resources to complicate things further.

[personal profile] grimdeity 2016-10-22 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure the staff's reasons to murder people were, of course, beyond reproach.
liven: (ASIDE ► well that's sure a thing.)

[personal profile] liven 2016-10-22 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
We can't stop them complicating things without knowing who they are, unfortunately. And I doubt they would be wise to tell us. Since they would presumably be murdered just as fast as the medical person.
mansplains: (Feel ashamed of who I am)

[personal profile] mansplains 2016-10-22 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Any of us? Or just the staff? [Because if the secret killer group has a secret bodyguard group...]
antietam: (pic#10376467)

[personal profile] antietam 2016-10-22 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Staff who didn't do anything. You just killed an innocent boy.
selfdenying: (you're up then you're down)

[personal profile] selfdenying 2016-10-22 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
What are they trying to do, kill everyone faster than the staff can? And they're cowards! If they wanted to kill Bigby, they should've done it themselves!
antietam: (pic#9385148)

[personal profile] antietam 2016-10-22 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Luke didn't murder anyone.

If we assume the staff were taking the feet--the monitors--and their kills had been more brutal, would you say this may have been done by someone else?
mansplains: (Can't you just leave us alone?!)

[personal profile] mansplains 2016-10-22 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Hang on. Two people can hand out weapons to anyone? Is that what you're saying?
