trial #3

DAY 6 (afternoon)
Complex Population: 27

At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom.

"Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level."

Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need.

As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in.

You have until 7PM to discuss and vote for who you think the murderer is.

[ Welp.

Judy was kind enough to reveal a crucial part of information that they should know about. Franziska was part of some... medical team. It makes Elizabeth's heart sink a bit because it was... well, now they're on their own? That's... fun. ]

We have confirmation that Franziska was one of the six mixed among us. A medical role, but I do not know what that entails but -

[ Pinches nose. ]

We'll have to be sure. We need to be one-hundred percent sure about our choices from now on.

...So she just played her hand far too soon. Helpful.

[ shijima is a bitch, news at eleven ]

[personal profile] tearable 2016-10-22 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
However... that means... these six have ways to do good - assumingly to tend to medical situations - and to act at night - this Kei boy who came armed to the teeth.

[ This sucks. ]
liven: (CROUCH ► and watch.)

[personal profile] liven 2016-10-22 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
It sounds like that accounts for two teams of the six. That leaves either a third team with a third power or two singletons.

[ ok. ]

So, their methods of acting against the staff are somewhat less direct than would be preferable, and so far their results aren't the best...well, best of luck next time?

[personal profile] tearable 2016-10-22 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
They'll get themselves killed or an innocent. I made the same threat to Franziska - if there's an innocent murdered because of someone's ego...

[ She'll act. Shrug? ]

We don't have the time or resources to complicate things further.
liven: (ASIDE ► well that's sure a thing.)

[personal profile] liven 2016-10-22 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
We can't stop them complicating things without knowing who they are, unfortunately. And I doubt they would be wise to tell us. Since they would presumably be murdered just as fast as the medical person.

And I just learned a bit of information, myself.

[He kind of looks like he's about to throw up, but he swallows, trying to keep stable.]

That idiot who got killed by Bigby? Kei? He wasn't staff or the other team. He was chosen by two of the other team - and not only that, he was armed by them and allowed to roam the apartments during the night.

Those morons basically made themselves a damn mercenary.

And so he simply decided to cast his vote of suspicion more directly than the rest of us. Idiot...
selfdenying: (then you're cold)

[personal profile] selfdenying 2016-10-22 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha! That airhead thought he could play vigilante after a little bird whispered into his ear. Ugh, I've never heard anything more stupid in my life. What made him think to trust someone's word, huh? All he got was his own death for his own damn troubles.
liven: (BORED ► over the shoulder. yep.)

[personal profile] liven 2016-10-22 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Honestly, his main mistake was not making the first blow lethal. Though I also do not believe Bigby to have been a good target to start with.
selfdenying: (you're in then you're out)

[personal profile] selfdenying 2016-10-22 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Why didn't they finish him off, then? If he wasn't even staff, surely they could've come and helped him.

I'd hazard to say they're just as bad as staff, if they're using innocent people like little puppets for their own needs.

Oh, isn't that just lovely. I always wanted to be afraid of unaffiliated mercenaries in additions to teams of mystery people committing murders.
selfdenying: (we fight we make up)

[personal profile] selfdenying 2016-10-22 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Not only that, but mercenaries who think they're doing the right thing. What did that moron even get out of it? The satisfaction that he might have killed a man who wasn't even guilty? He must have left his brain behind on that night.

Clearly, he was expecting to be paid with a handful of our exotic commissionary items.

But more seriously to that end, one must wonder if he was indeed promised something in return for killing. If the staff are capable of such things. They are capable of lording over Judy, we know that much. Who's to say what else they may have access to?

[Sneezing into her elbow, but. Also. What the heck.]

So not only must we worry about the staff, but about two individuals who are arming others and allowing them to decide who may or may not be suspicious. As if our position wasn't precarious enough.
selfdenying: (you're up then you're down)

[personal profile] selfdenying 2016-10-22 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
What are they trying to do, kill everyone faster than the staff can? And they're cowards! If they wanted to kill Bigby, they should've done it themselves!

Perhaps they consider themselves too physically weak to do the deed themselves. Or they simply believe no blood will be on their hands if they murder by proxy.

But it remains a cowardly choice, regardless of how you look at it.

We do not need self-righteous vigilantes.

[ Elizabeth says coldly. ]
liven: (SERIOUS ► i understand.)

[personal profile] liven 2016-10-22 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
We don't need any kind of vigilante, unless their aim is a bit better and they actually find a staff member.

[ dryly. ]

[personal profile] liven 2016-10-22 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be preferable to what was decided last night.

[ yeah but shijima. agrees. mostly because if you must play a stupid murder game play to win you idiots! ]

When you went into the room to check Franziska, did you notice anything unusual about the body or how she had been killed?
tearable: (pic#10637935)

[personal profile] tearable 2016-10-22 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Besides her foot remaining intact? [ She says with a relief. ] The method looked different, I'd say. Less gorey, less calculated. I'd wager it was more of a sloppy kill with a blunt item.

[ Maybe Franziska was on to the staff? ]

[personal profile] alittlemaster 2016-10-22 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
If we assume the staff were taking the feet--the monitors--and their kills had been more brutal, would you say this may have been done by someone else?
tearable: (pic#10637924)

[personal profile] tearable 2016-10-22 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
It's hard to say. They hear us talking. They hear us interacting. They could have seen us pick up on the trail with the ankle monitors and changed methods.

[ She has no clue, actually... but it makes sense. ]
