DAY THREE
![]() Complex Population: 33 It's 8AM, and you wake from that deep, dreamless sleep that enforces curfew as always. There's breakfast avaliable in the cafeteria if you want it, as well as meals from 11AM-12PM and 7PM-8PM, but otherwise? The day is yours. Take your time to explore the complex, relax, and enjoy each others' company, as who knows what the next day has in store? Though as you explore, you may notice that there's a new door unlocked and a new place for you to spend the day. There's a workshop and tinkering lab that you can now access. It includes everything from power tools to more terminals (so no need to crowd around the commissary terminal to chat with Judy anymore). As tempting as all these tools may be, they cannot be removed from the lab. Only completed projects may be taken out of the lab. That said, it seems like someone may have already been here, as there's blood smeared on one of the terminal's keyboards. Also, anyone taking a stroll by the fountain this morning may notice something floating in the water: a boy's severed foot. This post is for the first day as defined in the schedule. This post is for general mingling and CR buidling, and will not include significant plot interaction. ic rulebook character statuses character profiles private conversations graveyard |

[ If you want to see Adam in the morning, it seems he's with someone in the lounge... ]
lab, afternoon
[ Adam can of course be found in the technology lab. After inspecting all of the tools available and recognizing that they can't be taken out, he gets started on a project. It seems he's using the kit to build the little robot. He seems entirely focused on that and quite expert with the tools in hand... but at some point, he'll recognize that someone else is there. ]
Excuse me, would you pass me that? [ He points to some random tool that's called for. Apparently you've been made into an assistant. ]
kitchen, early evening
[ Adam is in the kitchen, an open can by his side as he cooks the meat from it. He's looking at it distastefully. ] ... Do you want this? I don't think I'm hungry suddenly.
Lab
Are you good with robots? [How many tech experts are in this place?]
no subject
Thanks. I've actually never worked on a robot before. Just cars. Are robots normal where you're from? Because I'm feeling kind of behind the times.
no subject
Robots exist, but they're not very advanced yet.
[HAH]
You're not the only one feeling behind the times. Apparently there's a guy from the ancient Japan times among us.
[Dojima hasn't defined if it's an act or if Sakyou is being serious]
no subject
[ It's either at that thought or Dojima's mention of someone from ancient times that he looks amused. ] Is there? How ancient? I've met a guy who's from an entirely different galaxy where space travel is normal.

he does brighten when he sees adam because of their conversation a few days ago, glad to see a budding engineer here (or at least what he assumes to be a budding engineer. come on, be one of his kind) and makes a beeline right for him. when adam asks for the screwdriver, rhys will happily hand it over before pulling a stool over to sit and watch.
oh, he does also have some bandages on, finally. good lord, rhys. ]
Are you building something from one of the kits? Which one?
no subject
And Adam is just particularly curious about his... everything, so he doesn't seem bothered at all when Rhys begins watching. ] I'm starting out with the simplest kit for building a robot. I'd like to see how they tick first before getting into more advanced projects. [ He glances over at Dumpy fondly. His new best friend. ]
Does this all look real primitive to you?
no subject
dumpy is happy to see adam though, leaving rhys to hover around him before settling near his elbow, also watching adam's hands work. rhys looks concerned for a moment before shaking it off. he'll let dumpy do his thing, as long as he's not screaming at anyone while he does it. ]
Oh, yeah. Kind of. It's like... what I'd usually call junk, hah. But even if you're working with scraps, you can still build something pretty good if you know what you're doing. There's plenty in here to build something, even without the kits.
[ a pause and -- ]
Are you gonna try and put an AI in the robot?
no subject
But also Rhys says something very deep, which makes him stop working and look over. Even if you're working with scraps, you can still build something pretty good. The Adam Parrish Life, maybe. ]
An... AI? Is there technology around here for that? [ That would be kind of worrying, honestly. ] Oh, did you come in here to build something? I'd like to watch, if that's not too weird.
Kitchen
no subject
But I think even if this were some five-star meal, it's kind of hard to eat after... everything. Aren't you worried about tonight?
no subject
[She shows no interest in using the kitchen herself, and is probably just hanging around for the sake of it, if only to distract herself.]
Naturally. The only thing I can do is to figure out how to defend myself if worst comes to worst.
no subject
[ He frowns but continues cooking, assuming someone will want to eat it. Maybe? That reminds him... ] Your skills mentioned something about... poison? I guess that's not a very good defensive tactic, but...

lab, naturally
I can. Are the instructions quite complicated?
no subject
Thank you. There's a lot of jargon here, but it all feels pretty natural. That's what I like about fixing things. Each piece has a purpose and once you understand that purpose, it's easy to figure out where it goes. See, now that I can screw this in...
[ And he does so, moving his hand so she can watch. ] Now I connect this jumper wire from the power source to here... and that's how the wheels are going to move. Have you ever seen a robot before in your travels?
no subject
That's brilliant. [ her arms are folded, and she can't help it - lara gazes down at the machine he's tinkering with, something like pride reflecting in her eyes. he's a good kid. he's got a good future ahead of him. gotta keep it that way. ]
Not yet, no. So far the only way I've seen a robot is... [ well. ] The one you're working on now. Ancient civilizations had their ways, though, and their technology, it could be even more advanced than we know. Stranger things... I've encountered far stranger.
[ but she's smiling. ] You could go far with this kind of thing. Are you planning to study in technology?

lab!!
[and passing him the tool]
This is incredible. I've never seen a machine like this built from scratch.
no subject
Neither have I. [ There's some relief that he's not the only one with no access to this technology. ] I don't know why we're getting access to these sorts of things. What if someone figures out how to build a deathbot?
no subject
That might be what they're hoping for..... but it'd be pretty amazing, wouldn't it? I can't believe they're just letting us build anything from scratch.
[but he sounds giddy...... because he is a huge nerd]

lab
Do you have experience with technology?
no subject
Oh... not particularly. I've only fixed appliances and cars. But there are kits here to learn, so I figure I might as well. Do you know how to do all this?
no subject
I know some things about technology, but not how to create a robot.

[HI ADAM. Leo doesn't really have any reason to be in here, but then again, there isn't much for him to do in a place like this. Mostly he's been hanging out in the apartment, trying to compose music without instruments and basically just staying alive. One of these has ended up more successful than the other, at the moment.
But since he is here, his choices are A. be useful, or B. stand around making unhelpful comments. For the moment he appears to have chosen B... sorry Adam...]
I don't think you're going to find much better, though.
no subject
It's not that. I'll eat anything most of the time. But we've just had corpses everywhere and there are still more staff members who probably want to kill us. Are we just expected to move on?
no subject
Sometimes that's all you can do. [Maybe Leo isn't the best person to say that, but. Here we are.] We have to take care of ourselves. If we don't, we're never going to catch who did it.
