DAY 1 Complex Population: 35 ( October 3 - October 6 ) It's 8AM, and you wake from that deep, dreamless sleep that enforces curfew as always. There's breakfast avaliable in the cafeteria if you want it, as well as meals from 11AM-12PM and 7PM-8PM, but otherwise? The day is yours. Take your time to explore the complex, relax, and enjoy each others' company, as who knows what the next day has in store? Though as you explore, you may notice that there's a new door unlocked and a new place for you to spend the day. One of the locked doors on the second floor is now open, so residents can partake in the clean, modest gym if you're the kind to keep in shape. — This post is for the first day as defined in the schedule. community bathroom - morning

[Because someone (she doesn't know who, but it's definitely a someone) broke a bathroom stall, Veronica is going to be fixing it in the morning. The screwdriver she requested came in, and that plus duct tape should make sure the hinges are kept in order.

However it's going to take some time, so hope you didn't intend on wanting privacy in the morning! Veronica isn't the type to step aside, or care about people's need for space.]

rec room - noon

[Three out of four pool cues are broken. Joy.

Much like the bathroom, Veronica is going to be fixing up the sticks with some glue and duct tape jury rigging. However it isn't quite coming out as sturdy as she wants.

If only we had a stronger type of glue... can't believe some idiots went and broke it.

gym

[She has no idea about the mindset of these kidnappers, but she's not going to snub a perfectly functional gym. It looks impressively new and it's been a while since she's had the proper chance to work out.

Consider this a general catch-all for gym activities. Be it running, lifting weights, or bare knuckle boxing, Veronica will be here at various times of the day to get buff and request random people to spar with her (only if it'd be a fair fight though - sorry kids.)]

[Alfendi came here to just see what the gym was all about, but what he didn't expect was being asked for a spar as he made his way around. He glances back at Veronica with a sheepish frown.]

Oh, no, no, I'm going to have to pass. [He says, with an apologetic wave of his hand.] I can't say I'm quite physically strong enough for such a thing. I can take on a newspaper crossword any day, but a spar? It's not my field of expertise...

Not even if I promise to go easy on you? [Well okay, even going easy might be a bit much on a guy like him.] That's alright. Are you here to just check things out then, or are you looking to work out?

I'm sure "going easy on me" will result in me breaking a few bones.

[He's as thin as a stick - it's hard to imagine any kind of muscle on his bones.]

I came to check it out, though now that you ask...I suppose giving exercise a try wouldn't hurt, right? There isn't too much to do around this place, so exercise could potentially alleviate my boredom.

More than just that. If things go bad, we'll need to defend ourselves. Unfortunately our commissary list doesn't include guns, so it'll have to be a fist fight.

[It's a good thing being in the police department means he had training in subduing suspects. He wouldn't be a bad sparring partner, but he's not used to that.

Sure am. I didn't want to advertise it, but my profile basically spells it out. ["Military training" and all.] Feel free to read it - I read most everyone's myself.

[when ava comes upon her in the bathroom, she isn't frustrated at the obstruction and inconvenience, but she does give pause for another reason. she approaches veronica.]

Is there any way I may assist you?

[The screwdriver slips from its place on the bolt, as Veronica turns her head and masks her surprise. She was so intensely focused on fixing the door, she didn't even realize someone was approaching. That's sloppy.]

Hi Ava. If you want to help out, can you maybe keep the door steady for me? Just keep it properly leveled so I can screw the bolts in faster.

Of course, Veronica.

[she steps forward, taking hold of the door to keep it in place]

Do you know who damaged it?

No, and honestly? I don't really care right now.

Shame, there was two for me and Bigby...

[ Elizabeth says calmly, finishing her cigarette. It's snuffed out quite nicely onto the ash tray nearby. It was an interesting night, but she didn't know if Bigby was the claim to all of the broken pool sticks. ]

Do you think some duct tape could fix that? You'd have to be a miracle worker.

[onepunchgirl]

There were three, actually. [She smiles, not actually realizing Bigby was responsible for at least two of them.] It may not be perfect, but duct tape is a real miracle worker where I'm from. Besides, fixing things is what I do.

Are you some - uh.... handyman? [ She waves her hand vaguely. ] You don't peg me as the type.

[AH, it's the snarky motherhen. Charles is the sort who drifts to those he knows, and even though he doesn't really know Veronica, the familiar face is what makes him mosey over.]

Why are you bothering to fix those? Whichever buffoon broke them in the first place will likely just break them again.

Well, for one thing, playing a game of pool with one stick would be a huge pain. [She shrugs.] I figure people just got mad about being kidnapped and took it out on the sticks. Now, if they do it again, then I'll be mad.

[Because dammit she is not putting effort into fixing things for people to bust them again!]

Perhaps you could break one of the remaining pool cues over their heads once you find them. That may discourage them from attempting it a third time.

[As if he's just assuming that it'll Definitely Happen a second...]

[ it is only right that Bigby has a fateful encounter with Veronica when she is repairing the one and only broken bathroom stall door. after all, he is the one who broke it. another morning, another attempt at taking a shower that doesn't culminate in further property damage. hopefully.

and at least this time he is still dressed, not given the opportunity to disrobe before noticing her putting in some work on the hinges that have already seen better days. there's the longest of sighs from him as he feels a tad bit of guilt, but for the most part, he is extremely tickled that this is occurring right before his eyes. ]

Uh, hey. You don't need to do that...

[Veronica turns her head when Bigby approaches, stopping her work momentarily. He's lucky she doesn't know about his involvement in this, or he would get quite the scolding and potential punching! But, for now, he's safe.]

I know I don't, but I want to. [She turns around, examining her handiwork.] If we're going to be stuck here, we should make sure to keep it in one piece for the time being. I'm all for property destruction, but only if it's for a good reason.

[puffing]

[ don't count him out just yet. he's half tempted to tell her the moment he had seen what she was doing. for the time being, however, he would bite his tongue on that little egg of knowledge. ]

You want to? [ he leans against the column between the shower stalls across from the one she is working to fix. ] I don't know. Seems highly plausible that it was broken for a good reason. To me, anyway.

[ it's hard to hold back a smile. ]

[ Adam doesn't particularly care about the broken things around, but he notices Veronica working on the cues and... well, he kind of wants to feel useful. ]

I think it might stay better if we carve into the wood a little. Make some notches so it's not wiggling around.

[She looks to Adam and smiles with a gentle hum at the suggestion.]

Not a bad idea. Do you know how to do that? I don't really work with wood often.

[Most of her repair work is in technology and metal objects.]

I don't either, but it shouldn't be that hard. [ And he... honestly happens to be carrying a knife from the kitchen around with him. ]
