trial #4
![]() Complex Population: 19 At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom. "Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level." Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need. As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in. You have until 7PM to discuss and vote for who you think the murderer is. ic rulebook character statuses character profiles Voting will close at 9PM EST on 10/29. voting |

That's, you know. That's pretty mean, Shijima, but alright. Uh. Is it the tech thing again? It's probably the tech thing again.
no subject
This time, however, it appears the circumstantial evidence is enough to sway even Jeff. That being the case, you're probably going to die.
no subject
[ somehow, he did. he looks genuinely dismayed for a moment as he scrubs a hand through his hair. wtf did he just wake up to. ]
So. Right. I'm going to die even when I did -- what? Nothing? Had some skills prior to being here? Was unlucky enough to get this stupid thing attached to my neck? What?
no subject
[ she crosses her arms. ]
Though I must say, he was a better person for it. You took a coward's defense, didn't you? Well, we all knew you were a coward, but even so, this is despicable even for the little worm called Rhys. It's a truly human action...nothing inhuman would stoop so low as this.
no subject
Okay, you're all voting for me. I'm dying. Got it. I get it. That's -- well, honestly, that was kind of the point here. So, thanks.
[ rhys??? he just rubs at his eye, looking pretty put out for a moment and frustrated. ]
I'm not a coward, I'm just -- I'm just a terrible person. I've been upfront about that from the start. I want you to vote for me. And I want you to kill me. I'm not going to tell you why and I'm not going to tell you what I did. I'm not even going to tell you if I'm staff or not. But I do want to be voted for.
no subject
[ that's actually disappointing? she sighs, like he's bored her. ]
It's too much to ask you to have any sort of spine, though...so whatever. Take the coward's path; you've always intended to do so, haven't you?
no subject
[ despite everything he does really like shijima!! he doesn't want to be rude to her okay. ]
... See, here is where I'm gonna -- I'm gonna ask, uh, what you think I'm doing here then? "Coward's path" -- what's the coward's path here?
no subject
You've bound your life to another's. Also, I truly do believe that "wanting to be voted for" as a member of staff is a cowardly thing. It's a half-hearted surrender. Weak. Your being a coward isn't a matter of opinion. Your actions tell it as true.
no subject
No, god. What? No. I'm just trying to die. Is it cowardly if you're giving me exactly what I want? To die? I know what comes after you die here, and it's much better than this. The binding thing wasn't even my idea but -- but I didn't want the rest to be misinterpreted. I'm not surrendering, I'm -- I'm winning.
no subject
[ she still seems. pretty uninterested in what he's saying. ]
You couldn't work up the courage to even do that much, however. I'd say that's your loss...well, believe what you want...perhaps the lies will help you sleep.
no subject
But what would be the point of that? I had a job to do. I did it. Now I'm done and I'm going to leave exactly how I want to.
[ and then something dawns on him here and he sighs, settling into his seat pretty happy. ]
Actually, I think I'm fairly happy now.

[Don't??? Grimace???]
Please — we need you to be honest, Rhys. No more lies. No more changing topics.
no subject
Honest about what? You could, you know, try explaining something for a guy instead of looking at me like that. Seriously.
no subject
There is evidence you requested from the Commissary several items linked to the events of this morning. The baseball bat, the batteries and a scalpel, to name a few. Is that explanation sufficient?
no subject
and that's just going to make him rub the back of his neck and sigh. ]
Yeah, it is. Thanks for clearing that up then, all I wanted to know.
no subject
[And with that, it seems like she's done dealing with him.
Except, nah. She's going to quickly pull a Jack here and clock him right in the fucking nose. It's going to hurt her hand more than it'll hurt his face, but. Yeah. Have fun getting zapped there, Rhys. She has zero regrets even as her own collar actives.
Asshole.]

For the record, Angel, this wasn't my god damn idea. Ow.
[ ugh!! he is an innocent business boy damnit ]
no subject
Then whose idea was it? Excusing yourself is meaningless if you're unwilling to give us a name.
[An innocent business boy who may or may not have made corpse salsa out of two people. GJ, Rhys.]
no subject
I would give you a name if it mattered but also, I can't. I tried earlier. Tell them, Jack. Tell them what happened to me when I tried to give you a name.
[ look the corpse salsa wasn't intentional ]
no subject
[Is he sure it wasn't.........]
no subject
But -- but if I say it, then I'll get shocked, which will shock you, which would be a dick move? I'm not gonna do something like that, what the hell. You didn't do anything wrong!
