DAY 8 (afternoon) Complex Population: 19 At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom. "Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level." Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need. As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in. No, god. What? No. I'm just trying to die. Is it cowardly if you're giving me exactly what I want? To die? I know what comes after you die here, and it's much better than this. The binding thing wasn't even my idea but -- but I didn't want the rest to be misinterpreted. I'm not surrendering, I'm -- I'm winning.

You can tell yourself that. But yes, it is cowardly, to have gone along with all this. If you weren't a coward, you would have simply killed yourself before you allowed others to be dragged into it. I-di-ot.

You couldn't work up the courage to even do that much, however. I'd say that's your loss...well, believe what you want...perhaps the lies will help you sleep.

[ he just shakes his head firmly at that. ]

But what would be the point of that? I had a job to do. I did it. Now I'm done and I'm going to leave exactly how I want to.

[ and then something dawns on him here and he sighs, settling into his seat pretty happy. ]

Actually, I think I'm fairly happy now.

If being a coward pleases you, whatever. Can we ask Judy to end the trial early, I wonder?

I could ask her, if you want. She listens to me more than she listens to you.

You may as well so you don't take up more of our time on your person. It's boring and you're a disappointment, so I don't really want to be stuck here for two more hours listening to all this ridiculous nonsense about how people didn't mean to do this or that, or we don't know the whole story.

Honestly, when will anyone here own up to their own cowardice and bad choices?
