DAY 6 (afternoon) Complex Population: 27 At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom. "Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level." Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need. As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in. Clearly, he was expecting to be paid with a handful of our exotic commissionary items.

But more seriously to that end, one must wonder if he was indeed promised something in return for killing. If the staff are capable of such things. They are capable of lording over Judy, we know that much. Who's to say what else they may have access to?

It would appear he didn't even know that much. Or Elizabeth knew more.

That's not the only reason I find him suspicious, personally. But if you find someone else suspicious, by all means say so. Although I do figure we'll end this the same way we did last time.

[ Elizabeth feels like that's wrong. She's seen it - she's talked with people once she left Columbia. She's seen the silver-tongued and wicked hearted but there was something that makes her want to believe in Veronica. Believe in her cause. ]

Right. I just hope they don't just tell us what they want us to hear. They have information - these roles or some such - that we can't comprehend without outing themselves. Franziska, as much as I disliked the way the woman acted, did not deserve to be hunted down.

[ She's shutting her eyes, tenderly adjusting her wrist in her cross armed stance. ]

That wasn't the repentance I felt she deserved.

I know you're upset about Luke, but there's nothing anyone can do about it abymore. What you're doing right ow us making yourself look suspicious.

This brat is going to get us all killed, with his attitude. Even if he isn't staff, he's the one being distracting from the real issues.

Also, don't you think it's strange that Franziska was the one who died after she narrowed down her list to include Luke?

[ Adam's face remains blank. Looks like he's already had enough emotion for the rest of his life. ]

I would have if I were allowed. But now I guess I have to deal with you putting words in my mouth. If you can't stay calm, maybe you should go in a time out?

Not at all... I'm just saying maybe we shouldn't focus too much on his love life? I'm sure this and that are too different things.

If you love someone, you'd want to keep protecting them no matter what. [Even if they're dead, I guess.] So if there's any suspicious behavior, it could very well be just because of that.

I don't know. I don't know what I would have done in that situation. Is that something I can hold against him? Obviously not.

In all fairness, you can cast your suspicion at me as well.

If you're going to make these accusations, be certain your logic is sound.

[ She's neither for or against this logic, but she wants to make sure no one else gets wrapped up into it - look what happened with Lara. ]

No, I think that could be connected. They knew one another for a very, very short amount of time before apparently coming to this. Extra time spent with one another outside the time we're given - such as in secret meetings presumably comprised of staff - would have given them more time to get to know one another, as could have the set up to whatever this is by staff.

But even ignoring the romantic aspect, I find Adam Parrish suspicious. I see no point in not saying so. I found Luke suspicious as well, and that was apparently correct.

No, but it's worth thinking about, is it not? Why would someone feel so attached to a person they knew only a few days, who turned out to be the enemy? Perhaps simple naivety is the answer, but nevertheless. At the end of the day, we will be pinning the blame somewhere, won't we?

Obviously I don't care about that or I wouldn't have said anything.

I care more about those here who have killed innocent people but still think Luke is somehow worse than them.

[selfdenying]

Ha! That's rich. The little loverboy telling me to go in a time out!

[He suddenly looks green, like he's about to throw up, and just covers his mouth for a moment, shuddering. When it passes, he just shakes his head.]

If you're trying to get us to kill you in some kind of bizarre revenge-filled suicide so you can join him, then you're a fool.

[Elizabeth is pretty compassionate. Guy didn't even speak to Franziska, but he could respect her convinction. And she was young.]

Yeah. [It looked painful, but Guy's not going to day as much.]

But you were right about her having a special role.

[He just chuckles - is this all a game to him? Who knows.]

I operate on nothing but logic. Elizabeth, right? I don't have time for people who try to use emotions to obscure the truth. [A beat.] But don't worry, I'm hardly accusing him yet.

[He shakes his head.]

I don't deny that. [Dojima glances at Adam for a moment. Really, buddy, he understands you're still dealing with Luke's death, but you need to start caring] But you're not going to convince him to care more by tearing him apart. This is not the time to talk about it.

It's no surprise. I myself thought von Karma was likely to be the next person to die, if only because the staff would have wanted revenge towards the person who got one of their own under the spotlight like that.

[Said rather prudently, in case Alfendi is going to try to create some logic based on that. If the staff was acting out of a desire to avenge Luke, then Franziska actually being one of those six must have been one fun bonus]

What can I say? Everyone has already shown they don't care about listening to logic and just want to vote for whoever the loudest person tells them to.

[ There's a pause. ] No, I'm like actually telling you that you look like you're about to be sick and I don't want to watch that.

Minatsuki is still missing, presumably dead. That could have been the staff's target, since she was also not an adult.

[From where he is, Ciel regards Bigby for a bit, then looks back at Elizabeth.] I don't think Franziska would go down so easily based on what we had seen of her. In Bigby's altercation, he received injuries.

Whoever killed Franziska likely will also have injuries, ones fresher than those from the glass breaking. [He points to the wound on his brow. A bit irritated because of the eyepatch, but healing.]

Yeah but personally, I think a staff member wouldn't be so... openly passionate about a man who we know was the enemy. Staff would be more likely to condemn him, not call him an innocent.
