DAY 4 (afternoon) Complex Population: 32 At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom. "Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level." Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need. As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in. All right...we've got less than an hour to cast our votes and we're still not a lot closer to figuring out what to do. I don't think we want to abstain this time because...well, we saw what happened last time. [That randomizing is no good for anybody.]

So. What's our best option now?

Apparently voting for Judy is an option...

... I'm not sure if we should resort to killing our only source of outside help. She's in the same situation as we are, isn't she?

[Ankle monitor. Boss(es?) can kill her. So. Though "help" is very subjective, she knows.]

It's a potentially risky option, though.

Really. [This is news to him, so he's lifting an eyebrow.] What would be the pros and cons of that?

Do we know if she's a person or a program?

That sounds like an idea that could go very, very badly.

That's terrifying. What if she runs the commissary and functions of the complex?

I don't trust her, but who's to say we'll be better off without her?

Voting to abstain was an option as well. Look how well that went for us.

Probably not a very good one, though. [That's why he hasn't brought it up, even though he asked.] It's possible she's the only one who can show us where the exit is.

At least we solved the matter of Jefferey.

[ she's not being sarcastic that was definitely a reasonable use of time. ]

But I agree, abstaining is perhaps not the best idea. Do we have a list of possibles to go through? We can list the pros and cons, in a way, of each.

It'll definitely save us time if we have to do another trial anytime soon. [He can appreciate it honestly, he sure does enjoy not being confused. On the other hand, he doesn't like that question very much.]

Ms. Von Karma came up with a list of suspects she seems to think logically fit, but that's also mostly focusing on the case from last time. We haven't really decided who could be behind this one. A lot of people seemed to be leaning toward possibly someone who knows about technology because of the ties with the ankle monitor things. Which is possible. I can't think of what they'd want to do with them though, can you?

[puffing]

I'd say everyone should vote for themselves, but some asshole is going to mess that up, staff or no.

[ Bigby is clearly happy to find that no one has made any decent headway in this department. ]

[chiseler]

That would require everybody cooperating, and I'm not willing to bet Judy wouldn't see that as a thirty-something way tie. [He shakes his head.] ...I don't like this. How are we supposed to do this without any leads?

[tearable]

If it was easy, we would have all voted hours ago.

[ She wants to say with an annoyed huff. ]

It's honestly a toss up. We have nothing - no leads. Even if we could have investigated the crime scene more, there's no... solid evidence.

[chiseler]

So really what you're saying is we'd have better luck if we shut our eyes and drew a name out of a hat. [He pauses, almost like he's really considering that as an option.] The only clear routes we have to even explore right now are Adam's of voting for Judy, Alice's where we look at those who know about technology, or Franziska's where it's between you, me and Bigby. We need to pick a route and explore it as fast as possible to rule some stuff out don't you think?

It's hard to say what our best option is.

[Is there even a best option? Who knows.]

Someone needs to be willing to say a name. Even several names, as I did.

If you're afraid you'll be accused next time for naming names, you shouldn't be. Now that this has all been brought to light, I imagine the staff will instead be overly cautious.

[chiseler]

Haven't decided yet. [That's what he's worried about.] I've been trying to prove myself against accusations but...I can't do much if people don't want to believe me, you know? I don't want to vote for anybody but that's definitely the worst idea.

[injectors]

I don't believe there's a "best" option in this scenario, but as far as I'm aware— We've discussed several options so far. Please, correct me if I've missed any.

There are those who have suggested Leo, due to his involvement in Diva's trial. Franziska has also suggested Elizabeth, Lara, and... you, Luke, as possible members of the staff. [She is not too endeared to any of those suggestions, but.] I believe it was also suggested that an individual skilled with computers and electronics could be among their number. Considering the information given to us by the profiles, that would implicate Jack, Rhys, and I.

[Which is also not very endearing, either? But she understands the reasoning and won't put up much of a fight, although she sighs at the end.]

Whatever we decide, it should be as a group.

Agreed. Dividing our votes into smaller categories is the most dangerous thing we can do - it gives the staff an opportunity to outvote us.

Do you have any preference?

[jackhole]

Not us. Not us. Why should we get in trouble because of luck of the draw? What if that's the whole point? I don't want to be killed just because I'm good at something.

[chiseler]

I think you've got everything nailed down pretty well, Angel. [He even dredges up a smile.] I think Veronica was mentioned as someone who knows electronics but maybe she was cleared, I don't know. There's...a lot going on. [He doesn't want any of these people to die what the fuck.] Getting everybody to vote as a group is going to be a pain in the ass though.

The reasoning behind me, Lara and Elizabeth is different than the reasoning behind you, Jack and Rhys. What option do we want to look over first?

Well, I think wanting to vote for Judy is a dumb idea and potentially a suspicious one.
