trial #2
![]() Complex Population: 32 At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom. "Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level." Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need. As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in. You have until 7PM to discuss and vote for who you think the murderer is. ic rulebook character statuses character profiles Voting will close at 9PM EST on 10/15. voting |
theories + voting
Time's ticking and we haven't a clue where to even start sniffing for a trail. I've begun thinking of some topics that are getting glazed over in our panic of terminal punching and namechanging.
[ SO. Here we go. ]
The first item I'd like to discuss while we have the time to do so is the missing bracelets. It seems there's a pattern, which implies that there's some sort of need for these devices. I've discussed with a few others what this could mean - it could mean a component or part of the bracelet is crucial in some grander scheme. Someone skilled must have access as a staff member and the knowledge to dismantle since there seemed to be blood on the terminal in the workshop area. I believe someone who can build or dismantle electrical or machinery could have some knowledge we desperately need. Judy confirmed that the terminals don't hold anything we don't have access to - but that phrasing was curious.
[ Elizabeth begins pacing a bit, chewing on her thumb before continuing. ]
Alice is also sick after coming in contact with the body part in the fountain. This is worthy of pursuing as well, but is a low priority.
[ And finally. ]
The last thing I'd like to discuss is your thoughts on how we're all seemingly falling asleep at the same time. I would like to throw out my own theory - specifically something I noted. We could not find anything in the vents, but there are vents around the facility on the ceiling. They're far too tiny to travel inside, but that's fine. It got me thinking. Either some chemical being leaked into the rooms or our bracelets could be the culprit. Some drugs have the ability to put one to sleep, but also with extended use, could cause memory loss. It could explain a lot of problems that we've been encountering here.
[ Just... just a thought. ]
I'm not sure how this can impact voting since no one will take claim or cast suspicion, but as time ticks on... it's interesting to note these theories.

But we gotta start figuring out how we're gonna vote, since we don't have any leads this time around. [not that they really did last time either, but at least they had a plan.
today, the don't and sitting around talking in circles is getting them nowhere.]

Yeaaaah, Alvin has a point. Theories are great and all but it's less "who killed this girl" and more long term mystery crap. What we should do now is more pressing and that might be focusing on whatshername. The girl? Ray?
no subject
[ It's not threatening, but Liz wouldn't blab and put a target on her back for no reason. ]
The girl was stabbed and we saw the seeming murder weapon. We have no detective kit or other such things to take fingerprints, so... this was all I could offer.
1/2
Lady, what the fuck. You're starting to scare the crap out of me, FYI.
[ stop talking like that to the dude who always thinks everyone's gonna murder him!! he can't handle the anxiety!! ]
With the whole -- the whole...
[ actually wait. he freezes, looking really ill for a moment before -- ]
2/2
[ he then proceeds to vomit all over the broken terminal. sorry.
then he'll probably like, faint and hit his head on the terminal in the process. ]

We've been discussing taking the ankle monitor off... the body tonight. I think our biggest clue is those, but perhaps we're approaching them in the wrong way... Regardless, until we know what we're doing, I think we should keep away from our own.
And one more thing on the note of drugs... Has anyone found out what the mystery drug is in the commissary terminal?

[Alice makes a face. She spoke to Sakyou about it earlier, so she supposes she might as well do it here too. Better that she admits to it than she keeps quiet and looks suspicious later for not speaking up.]
Whatever they are, they're not poison, probably. I took one this morning before the glass broke, and another after we came in here. I thought maybe it was medicine, since I got sick and whoever put us in here prepared for everything else.

are all of you... this way.... ]
It's available to all of us, so I doubt it is, but... Please don't take anything you aren't sure of, Alice. We don't need to risk it. I'm sorry you feel ill, but I'll make you soup and you can take the bed in my apartment during the day, but just don't take anything until you know it's safe.

[She crosses her arms in front of her, adopting a smirk.]
At the last trial, before we decided to try and abstain, Leo Baskerville raised Diva hitting Charles Fei-Ong as one of the potentially suspicious things he saw. That's to be expected. We were asked to mention if we saw anything suspicious, after all. And it would be foolish for a member of the staff to make a sudden accusation.
However, several individuals were very quick to accept Leo Baskerville's claims as a sign of guilt. Alice, Bigby Wolf, Luke Castellan, Adam Parrish, Elizabeth, and Veronica Santangelo. We must assume, of course, that most of this group were acting in good faith. But it is likely that at least one of them is staff, as it would be members of staff who would be most eager to see the trial lead to a false execution.

I'm also inclined towards trusting Santangelo. Letting us reach the corpse is a valuable chance for those who know about investigations, a staff member wouldn't risk it.
[So that leaves Alice, Bigby, Luke and Elizabeth...none of which looks particularly suspicious]

I believe Bigby Wolf, Luke Castellan, and Elizabeth to be most suspicious, personally. I only wished to be thorough in my assessment of who was involved.

[Alice?? Why.]
If a staff member did vote for Diva like those two [she gestures at Franziska and Adam] were talking about earlier to mess up that vote, which seems to be the case since no one confessed, then I can't be a staff member. If messing up the vote was my goal, I could have just left things alone since Shijima wanted to vote because she didn't like Alvin, but I convinced her to abstain with the rest of us.

Kinda makes you wonder what the staffs got against us, eh? Kill some kids, have some people falsely killed...gotta wonder what they get out of it?
[Rubs chin.]
Yeah, wonder if they're being promised something for it. Freedom? You think figuring out a motive is worth it, Miss Prosecutor?

[Alice has to pause to cover her mouth because of a coughing fit, but once that's passed, she picks up right where she left off.]
Judy said last time that she didn't want to tell us too much about them because she didn't want the people who took them to know how they worked, right? And then this time, they took it again. That implies they're still trying to figure it out.
It also implies that, if the person who killed Rayfa doesn't have some kind of technological knowledge, they're working with someone who does. Otherwise, why take them? They wouldn't be able to do anything.
So I think... if we're trying to figure out who the staff members are so we can vote for one, we should look at people with that kind of knowledge first. It's at least somewhere to start.

If the extended use of those drugs can cause memory loss, could it be possible we have been here for longer than just a few days, being subjected to those drugs?
That'd explain why so many of us lack part of our memories.
[No, wait...there's one flaw here. Dojima shakes his head]
On second thought, that's unlikely. it'd be very convenient for everyone to lose the same memories - the part about being here for a long while.
