DAY THREE

DAY 3 Complex Population: 33 It's 8AM, and you wake from that deep, dreamless sleep that enforces curfew as always. There's breakfast avaliable in the cafeteria if you want it, as well as meals from 11AM-12PM and 7PM-8PM, but otherwise? The day is yours. Take your time to explore the complex, relax, and enjoy each others' company, as who knows what the next day has in store? Though as you explore, you may notice that there's a new door unlocked and a new place for you to spend the day. There's a workshop and tinkering lab that you can now access. It includes everything from power tools to more terminals (so no need to crowd around the commissary terminal to chat with Judy anymore). As tempting as all these tools may be, they cannot be removed from the lab. Only completed projects may be taken out of the lab. That said, it seems like someone may have already been here, as there's blood smeared on one of the terminal's keyboards. Also, anyone taking a stroll by the fountain this morning may notice something floating in the water: a boy's severed foot. — This post is for the first day as defined in the schedule. I see... I'd hope for that to be true. I would like to lend a hand myself, to be honest, but I fear I'd be more of a nuisance than anything. Most of the equipment in the kitchen is still unfamiliar to me.

That's a good idea. Knowing more angles would be good... Ah, but if it's true that only the staff can enter that room, might that nullify some of the things we may discover?

[A little nod! And then an even littler smile, but he does find even this warning to be kind. It's a sign of truthfulness, he thinks, though he's not naive enough to believe there's no chance she could be saying it for that exact reason.]

I'll certainly keep that in mind. I have no intention of dying foolishly after taking someone else's life to continue on. That would be far too cruel - too disrespectful. [Even if nothing really tops murder on the disrespect list HE'S TRYING NOT TO ADD MORE. And after a beat, he adds:]

[ ugh it's this guy again. there's a flat look given to dojima as rhys continues working with his cybernetic, not even bothering to look at him other than that.

in the flattest tone of voice to match: ]

Nope. Just awful. Match-een? What's that? Can you eat it?

[ look, he is not that weird. how can you say that after everything they've been through?? that you... don't remember. ugh. still, rhys definitely did settle down in the back here even when jack was in the lab because despite everything, he really did need to take a look at his arm. he could ignore jack for a few hours to take a look at his arm.

but when jack approaches, there is surprise on rhys' face as he takes in the bowl of food and everything. huh. he lifts up his flesh hand then, pulling the cigarette out of his mouth and stubbing it out on the table as he sits up straight. ]

You know it's a stress thing, right? With all the, uh, murder.

[ but he does eye the bowl of food warily, the can of corn he ate this morning not really doing its entire job at this point. so, he gives a jerky nod and works to close up shop on his arm. ]

Yeah, just -- just give me a sec. Still haven't figured out why this thing keeps acting up but I'm starving.

[ also, he should probably put on a shirt again if he wants to be around jack. that sure does occur to him. ]

Guess so. Said my apologies but where I'm from? Turrets have a similar build.

[ SORRY, WE JUST CAN'T... agree on Dumpy vs Turrets at the moment. ]

Either way, if he or anyone else wants a crack at it, they can have it. I don't know if we can manage with the tools we have now.

Hm. Well, not a half bad idea, but there's one problem with that - if the sleep we are undergoing has to do with our monitors, which Judy said have multiple functions, then an alarm may not wake us up at all. It's be futile.

[Says Alfendi, stroking his chin as he, too, looks over the kits.]

However, may I suggest an alternative about knowing movements during the night? There's a certain trick involving a piece of hair or something of the like I once read about.

[Dojima manages to ignore that olimpically. As if Rhys had given him an affirmative answer - Dojima was pretty much giving him the chance of getting on board willingly - he nodded]

Do you have the skill to make something like a camera? All it'd need to do is record video for a few hours.

Oh- Oh, yeah, the face punchy thing?

[ With the way he talks, it's hard to believe that Jack is actually not an idiot sometimes... This is not helped by how he snickers and totally just continues talking even as he starts eating like a rude asshole. ]

Heh. You sure it's not user error? Just throwin' that out there.

[ He at least shuts up for a second to eat more, but then shrugs as he returns to the first conversation topic there. Making fun of Rhys was just more important, priority wise. ]

But, yeah, I mean, it's not for health, duh. Who smokes for any reason but stress? Seriously. Who. [ Even though he says seriously, this is still a rhetorical question, as is evident by how he continues without waiting for an answer ] So, deal, or no? Because I'll go bum them off someone else.

I'm sure it's a game to some people. [ He sounds mostly unamused though. He turns off the stove and taps his fingers on the counter, troubled. ]

The worst part is we don't know when they're going to strike next. We don't know how. I still suspect Charles was awake when he was caught but I can't explain why he would be out, or if someone got into his room to do it. We need to find answers before we can protect ourselves.

[ It's a good start that he's asking questions instead of denying everything. Adam doesn't mind being normal-ish to help him figure things out. ]

I haven't found him yet. But I think I've found other forms of magic. There's a lot that's hidden because people don't want to see it.

... I didn't believe it in it until I saw it either, but there comes a point where rationality becomes ignorance.

[ rhys is honestly surprised when he hears lara's voice, looking up and blinking at her a few times before sitting up straight. he looks down to his flesh arm, the stripes of blue wrapping around it before back up at her and lifting a shoulder in a light shrug. he'll pull out the cigarette after, setting down the screwdriver. ]

Ehh, bit different at Atlas. You can, uh, get away with a lot when you're the CEO, hah.

[ a grin and he gestures for lara to pull up a stool if she wants, stubbing out the cigarette and picking up a pair of tweezers from his tool box so he can start going through the wires of his arm to make sure they're all still in place. ]

Before that, place I worked was pretty okay with tattoos or personal design like that. As long as it fit the company image, you were fine. Plus, not like I wore short sleeves often.

[ have the most incredulous look, guy. he's pretty sure he's never been asked something this stupid before. ]

No. I picked it up from our local arms dealer.

[ and then promptly ignores him to get back to work ]

[ just going to... continue to not look at dojima and work on his arm but he's definitely insulted right now. ]

[Mitsutada will carefully take the drill back -- which is the only "careful" thing he's done so far -- and promptly search for the speed buttons yet again. Hm, hm, hm, turbo, huh? Something cool is bound to happen if they try that, he's sure of it!

Well, if "something cool" involved the drill violently shaking and eventually flying out of Mitsutada's loose grip, then yes. Something cool did, in fact, happen.]

W-whoa! [He's shocked when he sees it go shooting from his hands, and even more so when it starts to circle and flail around his work space, effectively destroying plenty of things around him.] Ahh--! We need to catch it, quick! [Or just unplug it. But that's not fun.]

Really... [Well, she's very nice about it.]

Oh! I was just making something for my... friend. [Yeah, a good pal of his.] I picked out this starter kit for a birdhouse because I thought it'd be nice to watch the birds with him.

[ Adam eyes Dumpy, taking in his structure as he considers if he could build one of those one day. This robot won't be at all similar to Dumpy but he imagines they must have similar parts. He wants a little robot friend...

But also Rhys says something very deep, which makes him stop working and look over. Even if you're working with scraps, you can still build something pretty good. The Adam Parrish Life, maybe. ]

An... AI? Is there technology around here for that? [ That would be kind of worrying, honestly. ] Oh, did you come in here to build something? I'd like to watch, if that's not too weird.
