DAY TWO (morning)
![]() Complex Population: 34 It's 8AM, and rather than waking naturally, you awake to the sound of an odd tone ringing through the intercom. As you wake from that deep, dreamless sleep that enforces curfew as always, Judy's voice speaks up a few moments after. "A death has occurred. Safety Protocol 6227-A is now in effect. Protocol now available on Complex terminals." That ominous message might prompt you to leave your room more quickly. You can check out the terminal, where a new file is available, but as you head into the atrium, you might notice something else. The viewing stage is open. It seems that someone was busy during the night. This post is for the second day as defined in the schedule. This post is for investigation and general mingling before the trial that takes place in the afternoon IC. ic rulebook character statuses character profiles private conversations graveyard |

AN HOUR LATER → COMMISSARY.
discovery
[That's what Mitsutada was told, at least, by Charles himself.]
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we can get in easily... but we shouldn't just leave him in there either. Any ideas?
no subject
[ he isn't going to immediately assume anything, but best practice is to always approach those "closest" to the victim. that usually applies to significant others and family, but roommates seem to be the best thing to go with for now. ]
Nothing yet. Whoever did this set it up to make sure we couldn't get to the body. And has access to the facility.
[ a fact he is far from happy about. ]

We didn't speak much, but he told me his name and room since I was going to cook some soup for him but... [THIS happened.
Mitsutada frowns, obviously displeased with this whole situation. But, as upset as he really is, he keeps his cool at all times.]
How horrible... I wonder who saw him last, then?
no subject
[ yeah, it was a bummer, even for Bigby. he's seen enough dead bodies in his lifetime, but he was hoping to avoid that here. so much for that. ]
Good question. Did he mention having talked anyone else to you? Anyone that he may have known before coming here?
no subject
[They only talked for a short while but, given their time together, Mitsutada could easily tell that--] Charles seemed like a difficult kid -- though, good at heart!
Even so, I don't imagine it'd be hard for him to make some people unhappy... [But enough that they'd want to kill him so brutally...?]
no subject
[ he is not particularly excited about pursuing each person on an individual basis to try and find out who has spoken to Charles, let alone confirming if they are telling the truth. why did Bigby even care so much? maybe because it was wrong on so many levels. who knows. ]
All kids are difficult. I'm hoping that there's a better excuse for murder. Not that anyone should have been killed in the first fucking place...
[ while he sucks at communicating with children, he wouldn't kill one to eliminate them from the picture. ]
commisary
A few hours isn't enough to solve a murder, even less when we don't have access to the crime scene itself.
...what game are they trying to play?
[That's what he doesn't understand. All this stuff to keep them alive and content, and then murder happens! Hell, why was the kid killed in the first place? And there'll be a senseless courtroom session later, apparently.
The hell, Judy?]
This mess doesn't make any sense at all.

They're handicapping us for a reason. I want to find out what that reason is. I've played cat and mouse games with assholes before. There's always an agenda.
[ as if that wasn't obvious, what with the elaborate location and design of the trial system. ]
Everything was prepared meticulously. Nothing about this was spontaneous. If I could just get a better look at the body... We can't even tell if there was a struggle or not.
[ from one detective to another (do they even know this about each other?? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯), this has to be beyond infuriating. he hates not being able to do his job. he hates that he has to trust the opinions and judgment of around thirty people, many of those with no proper place making a call on whether someone should live or not. ]
Like I said. Bullshit.

I have the nagging suspicion the body was placed in that room on purpose. It's possible he was killed somewhere else, and then his body was taken in there by the culprit or Judy. There was a blood trail inside that room, although I couldn't see where it led. [And the fact that place is named 'Operating Theater' supports that, although Dojima doesn't know it]
No one was able to find an entrance! The problem with that is that if the culprit took the body in there, then the culprit knows something about that place most of us don't, and since Judy was ready to put in motion that protocol she mentioned, that could mean...
[...the culprit is working with Judy, but as Dojima said, that may be just a possibility. It could be possible the culprit simply found a way into the room, as simple as that, but Dojima has to consider all possibilities]
