DAY 2 (morning) Complex Population: 34 It's 8AM, and rather than waking naturally, you awake to the sound of an odd tone ringing through the intercom. As you wake from that deep, dreamless sleep that enforces curfew as always, Judy's voice speaks up a few moments after. "A death has occurred. Safety Protocol 6227-A is now in effect. Protocol now available on Complex terminals." That ominous message might prompt you to leave your room more quickly. You can check out the terminal, where a new file is available, but as you head into the atrium, you might notice something else. The viewing stage is open. It seems that someone was busy during the night. — This post is for the second day as defined in the schedule. Oh, this? [Yeah, he knows about it. His lips curl up in clear disgust.] Yes, I know about this, I have eyes, you know. I can't believe I've been kidnapped and placed in this asinine excuse of a prison.

[He's just shooting daggers everywhere with his glare, like he can just somehow carve out an exit with his gaze alone.]

What? Don't you have better things to do, girl?

It makes you wonder who'd want to lock you up, huh?

[Alfendi seems like less of a dud now than he did before... If he's this abrasive around others, he's bound to have accumulated enemies of some kind. But that raises the question - what's with how he acted so nice the day before?

I want to see how you'd do it. ♡ Besides, it's not like there's any way for me to get out of here easily, so I might as well keep myself entertained.

Someone who clearly thinks they can pull one over me and expect to get away with it.

Is that so? "Entertained"? [He lets out a laugh, a wide grin curving along his face.] And what else "entertains" you, I wonder?

[Including everyone's reactions to the death of a child, apparently. To be totally fair, there's been significantly less shrieking and crying than she's used to. This place really is full of interesting people...]

But being stuck here isn't one of them.

And you haven't found a way out? What are all of you doing, just twiddling your thumbs, whistling tunes?

[Where's the action?? The need to get out? Ugh, people are just so passive, he hates that.]

Has anyone made any progress?

I know a couple of things got broken while people were trying to find ways out, but...

[She makes a face, wrinkling her nose.]

Maybe I will try. I'll finally make some effort, unlike all of you who are too lazy to even attempt at finding a way out, and-

[A sudden wave of nausea hits him - he lets out a cough, sweat starting to bead on his forehead.]

Ergh...I will do it, I'll find the person who messed with my head like this, and I'll ruin them, you know? I'll ruin...

[And again, it's like something inside his body flicks a switch.]

[His straight posture instantly worsens, his shoulders hunching over, and the sudden fury in his eyes is just...gone. Only a very tired look remains - Alfendi blinks in surprise, like he's been startled out of a sudden daydream.]

...Oh...oh dear, what happened? [He looks down at Alice with a slight double-take, like she's just appeared out of thin air.]

Oh, Alice, hello there. [He says, his eyebrows furrowing together.] I...goodness, did I just faint for a minute, there?

[...oooooor he'll just pass out.

Alice will have to think back over their conversations to try and figure out what might have prompted the change - for now, though, she's just going to see how this goes. She can't help but wonder if perhaps he just has much more extensive memory problems than the rest of them...

But, no. He says her name, and she smiles. So it's not that.

You were pretty out of it, yeah. How are you feeling?

[selfdenying]

I don't feel all that well, really. Maybe I'm not eating enough? Or maybe it's this whole business with the murder, I don't feel like myself...

[You could say THAT again.]

How long was I out for?

[The food in the cafeteria is pretty gross, so it wouldn't be a surprise if he wasn't eating enough... but, no, she's pretty sure it's not that.]

Hmm... just a couple of minutes.

[Not very long, in the grand scheme of things - but long enough to make her intrigued.]

Have you always had problems with passing out?

[selfdenying]

I'm sorry if you had to witness that, I'm sure it's not very comfortable to have to deal with someone fainting out of the blue.

[And yet he's standing?? Weird.]

Erm...no, not that I can think of? [He shakes his head.] I'm hardly some paragon of health, but fainting and blacking out isn't something that's happened before.

I've seen worse... but you're better now, so it's fine.

[He's standing, therefore he's okay.]

Maybe it has something to do with the people who brought us here, then. You might want to ask Judy about it.

[A pause.]

...probably after we figure out what happened with the kid, though.

Judy already accused me of having memory problems when she brought up the housing contract that I don't recall signing, and Dojima...

[An uncomfortable look crosses his face, and he doesn't finish his sentence.]

Anyways, yes, we do need to figure out who and what's behind this whole morbid affair. But we're quite in a pickle, with no way to get down...
