DAY TWO (morning)
![]() Complex Population: 34 It's 8AM, and rather than waking naturally, you awake to the sound of an odd tone ringing through the intercom. As you wake from that deep, dreamless sleep that enforces curfew as always, Judy's voice speaks up a few moments after. "A death has occurred. Safety Protocol 6227-A is now in effect. Protocol now available on Complex terminals." That ominous message might prompt you to leave your room more quickly. You can check out the terminal, where a new file is available, but as you head into the atrium, you might notice something else. The viewing stage is open. It seems that someone was busy during the night. This post is for the second day as defined in the schedule. This post is for investigation and general mingling before the trial that takes place in the afternoon IC. ic rulebook character statuses character profiles private conversations graveyard |

No, they can't have. I would certainly remember a thing like that in the list...and nobody had one as part of their profiles, either.
[He taps at his chin, frowning.]
This might be wrong, but perhaps there's a place they retrieved it from that we don't know about? One that hasn't been open to us, yet.

[ She noticed the paleness immediately, but as he's composing himself to talk, she continues on. ]
That's a very good avenue to consider, you know. With all of the locked doors, the odds stack against us. We don't know what they have awaiting in this place.
[ Then she has to ask: ]
The way the handbook describes the protocol... it seems more like one of us is the killer, not our captors. How could they gain access to places everyone else has not?

[Spoilers: they weren't fainting spells.]
Actually, that is the scary part...I talked to Judy, and she said the Complex staff can open doors like the one that opened today. And get this...she said that members of our population are those staff.
[A pause - the concept is quite unnerving.] That means...some of us are pretending to be someone they're not. Some of us know exactly where they are and aren't the innocent victims they're claiming to be...

Don't add to the body count. [ She says dryly, but focuses on looking back towards the corpse now. She weighs his words, taking an extra step away from the glass now.] You're joking, right? There's moles here?
no subject
Oh, goodness, don't joke about that. [He has enough worries on his mind already! But who cares about him, when there's far more pressing matters to be concerned of?]
I'm not joking. That's what she said, but we don't know if what Judy says is correct. She could be lying to us, trying to get us to turn on each other, but...she claimed these members of staff among us are actually in charge of her. She said she could get killed if she said who they were.

[ Aiding? Protecting herself? Seems serious. ]
Then maybe it's time we start interrogating.
