DAY 1 Complex Population: 35 ( October 3 - October 6 ) It's 8AM, and you wake from that deep, dreamless sleep that enforces curfew as always. There's breakfast avaliable in the cafeteria if you want it, as well as meals from 11AM-12PM and 7PM-8PM, but otherwise? The day is yours. Take your time to explore the complex, relax, and enjoy each others' company, as who knows what the next day has in store? Though as you explore, you may notice that there's a new door unlocked and a new place for you to spend the day. One of the locked doors on the second floor is now open, so residents can partake in the clean, modest gym if you're the kind to keep in shape. — This post is for the first day as defined in the schedule. It depends upon the reason we are being held here, too. Do you think we will discover it soon?

[He shrugs.]

We might. But then again, we might not. If this is all an experiment, which is one of my theories...it may be possibly they'll leave us in the dark, forced to determine what to do on our own.

[she considers it for a minute.]

Would you be willing to share your other theories with me?

[selfdenying]

Oh, but of course.

[He's always willing to have an audience, even if he isn't the type for social interaction - it's nice to share his own thoughts, ever once in a while.]

First theory - we've been kidnapped for an illegal experiment. The ankle monitors certainly suggest that...it is not unlike tagging rats in a cage. The experiment's purpose? Unknown. They could be using us to test a drug on us, or perhaps it's more oriented towards social theory, to see how certain people interact. Perhaps this is a prison, and we are all bad people who need to be locked up for our own good, though I don't think I'm certainly anything of the like. Second theory, possibly we are being held for ransom. A corporation desperately needs something from the people we know, and are holding us captive until they receive whatever it is, whether it's money, or it's secrets. Third theory...we could be under the whim of an evil group who simply will torture and ruin our lives for their own insidious pleasure...but somehow, I think this is the less likely of all the options.

[listening to all that and weighing the merits of each idea. she has one question after it's through.]

If you think the third theory is the most unlikely, which do you feel is the most likely?

[selfdenying]

The first theory. The ankle monitors, the simulated comfort of this entire place, the lack of contact between ourselves and our captors except for Judy, who is nothing but tight-lipped...it all suggests a controlled environment where we are merely subjects that are being monitored. I would say I'm...62.5% certain that this is the case.

[How did he even get that number? Only he knows.]

Still, I would need more clues...

The monitors would seem to support your theory.

[pausing for a moment, thoughtful. she hasn't been successful in finding any more clues, but...]

I hope that you will find more as we explore this place.

Yes, they do, but...well, we shall see. Until we find a way to remove them and see what they look on the inside, we won't know what exactly they do.

[His mouth creases upward in a smile.]

Why, thank you. But of course, I'll have the help of people like you...Ava, wasn't it?

[He's looked at the profiles enough to almost memorize them completely. Her profile was certainly an interesting one.]

[he isn't the only one who looked at the profiles. she offers him a smile.]

How helpful of you, Ava. [He tilts his head with a curious look.] If I remember correctly, you're quite good at logical thinking, aren't you? That's quite a useful talent.

Of course it will, Ava. I admire those who think logically...I myself see logic as the solution to so many things, in life...

I'm curious. Did you have a job before you came here, Ava?

[the answer comes simply as she shakes her head]

[There's a slight shift in expression - it's like a shadow moves over momentarily - but he just smiles and shakes his head like nothing was the matter.]

Ah, I wish. [A beat.] I mean, I suppose I might have had one...someone here said I'm a detective, though I don't really recall ever being one.

[He sighs.] Anyways, your abilities would be useful! For many, many things. You should really use them in some fashion, it's good for you.

[a pause, blinking]

...I hope I have not done something to upset or offend you.

[selfdenying]

[He blinks himself, a little surprised, and then waves his hand apologetically.]

Oh, no, no, hardly not! I'm more upset at myself than anything. No need to worry, it's just a bit of a thorn in my side, you know? Not knowing something I should know...it's a bit frustrating, I must admit.

Do you feel as though there are spaces in your memory that are unaccounted for?

[selfdenying]

Ah, why lie? [He says, almost nonchalantly, but there's a hardness in his eyes that isn't quite hidden.] I suppose I am having some difficulty recalling some things.

[A shrug.]

I'm sure it will pass, though.

[which she's sure he knows, so she moves on.]

Ah, hope is all I can really do, now. Really, at the moment, I have to worry about other things. Like escaping this place.

[He can't let his own emotions to drag him down. He can't.]
