trial #4

DAY 8 (afternoon)
Complex Population: 19

At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom.

"Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level."

Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need.

As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in.

You have until 7PM to discuss and vote for who you think the murderer is.

We can ask him...I didn't really bother checking the body sludge once I got there. I was more concerned about his concussion...

I don't remember...

[He sighs, shaking his head. It hurts too much.]

All I know is that her body was in a bad condition, I don't know if she had her anklet on or not. I didn't look.

Mm, it was worth a shot. But if no one recalls seeing anklets in the sludge, perhaps that's what it was?

I guess. Still, why would they go so far to hide the anklets? It's not as if we've learned much from them so far.

They could have been hiding the fact the anklets were missing, if they were. But honestly...good question. Of course, we could be overthinking them as "hiding" anything. They really could have been attempting secondary murders.

Attempting secondary murders also seems far more likely to me. If we assume that one person was behind both of these murders, then trying to take down even more people in the morning isn't something that I'd put past them.

This also means that the killer is aware of which bodies they rigged — and would have avoided investigating those locations today. With all of those bodies to go over today, it's too easy for them to have slipped into some other location's investigation.

Judy told Alfendi that there were two murders done by the same person - we can assume those murders were the bomb ones, right? They were the most alike.

We can assume the two murders done by the same person were Mitsutada's and Hitsugi's. [ the bomb ones ] Even if we consider the option of two people teaming up and splitting the battery supplies between them, there was still only one bat to be found.

The question is, who was the one to do both of them? Do we believe Rhys to have committed those two murders, or different ones?

If he did pull the baseball bat and the batteries out of the commissary, as Elizabeth said, then all of the evidence points to Rhys. It's as simple as that, unless there were any other deaths that were as similar as those two murders.

I didn't hear of any that so closely matched. And he does have "technical skills" which would allow him to create a bomb. So, I think it safe to say he did both of those murders.
