trial #4

DAY 8 (afternoon)
Complex Population: 19

At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom.

"Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level."

Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need.

As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in.

You have until 7PM to discuss and vote for who you think the murderer is.

A bomb... What the hell are we dealing with? Someone's temper tantrum?!

[ There's a look of concern on her face, especially for Alfendi. ]

Rest now, you've done well.

I don't know, but whoever did it was out for blood. That thing could've killed me. They didn't just wanted a murder that was over and done with, they wanted collateral damage as much as possible.

[He shakes his head, pulling out a bottle of beer he got from the commissary, taking a swig.]

Ugh...like I have to hand it to them, they sure know how to massacre people in the most chaotic way possible. First were amputations, now we have bombs and bloody saws? They're escalating things.

[A pause - he glances away, voice quiet.]

...Thanks, Elizabeth.

Don't worry. They'll get their just desserts. They're making enemies and now that we have a unified group of people, these staff members... they don't stand a chance. Shame it takes bombs and setting rooms on fire to unite us.

[ Elizabeth does want to ask one question: ]

I have to ask... what was she beaten with? You said she was beaten before the bomb went off, correct?
selfdenying: (then you're cold)

Honestly, at this point, I hope they all blow themselves up. Hoist themselves on their own damn petards.

[It'll certainly save them all time instead of waiting for death to come and having these trials.]

...I don't know. It had to have been something heavy enough to break her bones. I didn't see any weapons, though.

There was a baseball bat in commissary...

[ Elizabeth says with suspicion. ]

I wonder if that's the murder weapon.

That would fit. But then again, the staff members seem to have their own storage of weapons, so who the hell even knows.

Don't remind me. [ Elizabeth says with an unsatisfied groan. ] When we actually find evidence, we're left with more questions. Great.
