DAY 8 (afternoon) Complex Population: 19 At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom. "Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level." Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need. As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in. [Covering her mouth in obvious horror. To get shot or stabbed is one thing, but...]

Oh, no... Veronica. [She told her to be careful, goddammit.] Who would go so far as to chop her to pieces?

[ Her eyes narrow when she sees Angel, motioning for her neck as if asking 'what's that?'. ]

Someone who had some anger to get out? Someone who wanted to make this horrifying? Or a sick son of a bitch.

A combination of all three seems more likely, if you ask me.

[Ugh, Veronica... She touches her neck when Elizabeth gestures, though, expression immediately grim.]

... This is a gift. From the staff, presumably.

[tearable]

[ Her eyes immediately snap around the room and - ... right. Angel's not alone in that. ]

Maybe they should get the memo we don't accept charity here.

[ Narrowing her eyes, she's giving a very worried expression to Angel. ]

They should. But I'll find it doubtful they'll adjust their behavior accordingly.

[Because staff will be staff. But...]

Don't worry about me, Elizabeth. It will be fine.

[tearable]

Hard not to worry when you have some collar strapped to your neck.

[ Elizabeth says with venom in her voice, bitterness. ]

I know. But if we're able to leave this room safely — I should be able to discover how to remove the collars strapped to Rhys and I by tomorrow.

[If. Someone seems to be low on optimism today.]

[tearable]

[ She has to think. That collar poses a threat to anyone strapped to it, she assumes. It's another tether - something imprisoning the people here and that? That definitely strikes a cord with Elizabeth. Seeing the girl treated like some animal, bound by both throat and ankle makes her have to think. ]

You will. You'll get out of here, I promise you. I'll find a way. We will.

[injectors]

Thank you, Elizabeth.

[She smiles at the other girl warmly. Her kindness is appreciated. It always has, in how little time they've known each other. However...]

But please don't make promises you may be forced to break. If I were to die here... I feel as if that would be alright, as long as my death is of some use.

We'll cross that bridge when we get there. Save the martyrdom lest you look like a fool.

[ All of this is too much - her side hurts, her throat hers, her head hurts.. It's too much sensory overload and it's taking a toll on her. ]

Their anger issues must be explosive, then, to believe this is appropriate retribution for that incident.

Or maybe they were just trying to hide how they really killed her. If they killed her in a distinctive way, cutting up the body could have disguised it, right?
