trial #3 - execution
![]() Complex Population: 27 At 7PM, a tone rings out, but it's not Judy's voice that filters out over the intercom. "TALLYING VOTES. . ." The voice is mechanical and robotic, and a pause lingers in the air. It seems that the voting system is run by some kind of AI. "CONSENSUS REACHED. MAJORITY VOTE. ADAM PARRISH. STATUS: GUILTY. ADAM, PROCEED TO THE JUDGEMENT THEATER. CHARGING..." There's the sound of clicking, and Adam will receive a very sharp shock to their ankle monitor. If they don't step into the judgement room, the shock will increase in strength every ten seconds until they're unconscious. Regardless, the voice continues to drone on. "DESIGNATING EXECUTIONER. . . ANGEL. ANGEL, PROCEED TO THE JUDGEMENT THEATER. CHARGING..." The second person will receive the same treatment. No one else will be able to step into the judgement theater after them without receiving a nasty shock before they can step too close, and once they're both inside, the door closes behind both of them. There's a clicking sound from the walls, and the panels on the right side of the room are pulled up to reveal a thick glass that allows you to look into the Judgement Theater. It seems justice is meant to come from the the hands of the jury. ic rulebook character statuses character profiles votes |

obnoxious roommate the first is quick on the scene when she emerges, looking actually concerned. ]
Angel! Angel, are you okay? Shit, man, when they called your name...

I— Yes. I'm okay. [Physically.] It isn't as if Adam had a chance to... attack me.
[She almost wishes he did. It would have felt fairer, in a way? Apparently, a moving target is more acceptable to her.]

[ and she knows it, but he won't be a brat and say that, for once in his life. she doesn't look so great. Steve's not great at comforting people, but he knows when he has to at least try. There's an awkward silence for a second; he clenches and unclenches his fists. ]
Don't -- let it get to you. He was guilty and you're not. [ is the best he can do. ]

[She's more or less hugging herself, fingers digging into her upper arms despite the pain from her wound. Veronica shattering the glass window seems so stupidly far away now. She doesn't know what to make of it.]
... Have you ever killed someone before, Steve? It's not as pleasant an experience as I had imagined it to be.
[Which is a very disturbing thing to say, but when your friends are heroic sociopaths and your dad a mass murderer...]

Depends on what you consider "someone" and what you don't. I've killed plenty of things that used to be someone. [ something he doesn't sound conflicted about. He loves guns, loves danger, loves the thrill - provided he has some degree of control over it all. So, not like this. ] ... I've never had someone throw me a gun and tell me to kill them, though.
[ he imagines it would be unpleasant. ]
