 Complex Population: 27 At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom. "Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level." Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need. As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in. Okay, you know what? I wanted to be civil about this with you, because I'm a hardass who isn't an asshole. But clearly niceties aren't enough here.
"Anyone who brings up a possibility could be guilty" is absolutely right, Alvin. That's the name of the game. When you bring up a possibility of someone's guilt, or propose a plan of action, you stake your name behind it. You take responsibility for the outcome. And people are going to judge you based on what you say, and how you say it. We don't have much in physical evidence available to us, so all we can do is determine things through communicating. That's why I think it's so important for us to discuss in an orderly way.
Just look at Luke. It was less about the accusation Franziska made, since she pointed at quite a few people at the same time, and more about how he reacted. He was incredibly aggressive toward what was only a simple point out, and that's why I personally voted for him over Lara. You're acting the same way now.
So my advice? Don't make excuses for yourself. When you bring up a possibility, when you bring up a voting option - even one from Judy herself - you need to be willing to put your name on it. You're free to be deny me all you want, but act civil to me when I act civil to you. Especially when I could have called out your name as early as the start of the trial - I'm not calling for your lynching, only expressing my opinion.

You go on a limb to toss an accusation out based on a flimsy reason. I stood behind the choice the abstain and the consequences. It felt damn crappy that it turned out the way it did, but whether or not I stand behind it doesn't change the fact that it's not a proposal I made. It's one I suggested at Judy's behest, so if you've got a problem with that, it sounds like you need to take it up with her.
It's kind of stupid to think that people aren't going to be a little defensive when you start doling out blame that could get innocent people killed. I don't want anyone to die for this damn stupid cause either, but I sure as hell have no plans of dying just because someone's pointing fingers at me. I offered myself up to clear the air, I gave my reasons, and you were the one point out that I had done so much wrong, even after I said I had no defense other than what I said.
[he's thoroughly unamused by it.] You've already got your mind set on voting for me, so is there much of a point in making some grand defense that doesn't exist? I tried to communicate, and you kept pointing fingers. That's the end of it. You may not be "calling for my lynching," but this isn't exactly a winning argument to change my mind on having fingers pointed at me for what happened in past trials.

Honestly if you were to just talk to me like a normal person, I would be glad to hear your point of view and give you the benefit of the doubt. All you're doing right now though is whining that you're forced to play in the same game everyone else here is engaged in. You think I like doing this? No, but there is a group of people that is committed to killing us.
You want me to not get on your case? Don't throw a tantrum to my face and come at me ready to pick fights, when all I wanted to know is why you brought up Leo last time. I came to you when you opened yourself up to hear your point of view, and you start blowing up at simple questions - how is that not suspicious?
People here are going to get accused based on their actions, any actions. No one here is going to be immune to scrutiny. I suggest you get used to it, Alvin, because everyone else is going to be looked at the same way you are.

Should I just sit here like a good little boy and let people think I'm guilty? It's not much of a tantrum if I try to defend myself, unless it's just that implicating to do that, too.
...Not exactly a fair trial. Not that any of them were, but I'm as sick as everyone else is as seeing innocent people get killed for a bunch of crappy decisions and crappy accusations.

You told me you wanted to look at all possibilities, but I specifically wanted to know what about Leo made you want to go back to him? All he did was relay something he saw between Diva and Charles. Something must have stuck out about it in your mind to recall it during the trial, right? Explaining your thought process is the best way to defend yourself.

It didn't have anything to do with Leo himself. Lara suggested that the only reason Diva was listed as a suspect was because someone else implicated her. I asked if that opened up the possibility that the first one to point fingers at a possible suspect. You know, immediately deflecting blame?
That's all it was, so maybe Franziska was reading way to far into it if somehow that meant I was the bad guy here.
