trial #3
![]() Complex Population: 27 At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom. "Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level." Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need. As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in. You have until 7PM to discuss and vote for who you think the murderer is. ic rulebook character statuses character profiles Voting will close at 9PM EST on 10/22. voting |

[Alfendi Layton, taking the floor in a very, VERY rude fashion. He kind of looks like he's going to keel over, but at least his anger is keeping him going? No one knows for how long that will be, though...]
Don't forget, there's more than twenty of us here. We're here to catch staff members that we're sure are staff members, not anyone who has a damn death wish! The fact that Fransizka was a medical staff member and was killed after aggressively going after people is interesting. Either our staff had to know what she was, or she got far too close to the truth in the last trial.

Does anyone know if Miss von Karma gave any hints as to her role in the past few days? I saw none, but I didn't speak much with her. She had such a limited vocabulary. [ fool. foolhardy. foolish. tomfoolery. ] But I do think her work last trial did make her a target-- she was the one to suggest Luke, was she not? Along with Elizabeth and Lara, the latter of which was innocent.

[He shakes his head.]
But I think the first one was likely - the fact that she was going after people in the first place and mentioned something about "protecting people", as someone just said...well, that would paint the nice target on her back, right?

[ shrug. ]
Yes, it certainly would. I know that if I were one of the staff, I'd take the cautious route and eliminate such a person, rather than pick someone at random as the other deaths seem to have been.

Could have been wrong. Obviously was.

[He flips through his notebook to confirm. Looks like he didn't overhear that conversation.]
What an idiot, telling it like that. And I suppose there's no way to tell who overheard that conversation and who didn't?

[ god, rude Alfendi. act like you've been involved in this before or something?? ]

[ OBVIOUSLY, SHE WAS WRONG? ]
I hadn't figured someone with that kind of presumed advantage would give it away so easily. I suppose she meant well, but it was idiotic.

[ Boy was she wrong! ]

[There goes snot, all over her hands. This is disgusting. She is going to die. But she is just going to carefully clasp her hands together and pretend that didn't just happen. Kill her. Or find her some tissues. Either one works.]
... I'm sorry. As I was saying— we should pursue another route. Perhaps think about who we suspect to be staff at this moment, or who we believe could have armed Kei, if we choose to focus on that murder as well.

[ because they would have made damn fucking sure he killed someone away from their territory, in her opinion? ]

[That blood won't clean itself up??? Shout-out to whoever thought arming Kei and siccing on him on Bigby was a good idea.]

If we wanted to be here for a week, I'd say we could go through everyone one by one and list off why they might or might not be staff.
Presumably, at least one staff member went about arming Kei and at least one other would have been responsible for Franziska's murder. Assuming they know how to divvy up duties, anyway.
no subject
But according to Judy, Kei was armed by two of the six who were mentioned to be working against the staff. That means we're looking and two entirely different sets of culprits this time.

[Alice recognizes the symptoms... she looks a little like she might throw up, herself, but at least she's managing to stand and lug Leo around.]
Anyway. I'm sure whoever armed Kei is going to say that they thought they were doing a good thing by making it possible for him to defend himself against who he thought was a staff member, but the fact is they're not innocent in this at all. If Bigby had died, they would have been just as responsible for his murder as Kei would have been.
no subject
[But at least she's not Rhys or Jack, both of who are... probably in the corner. Feeling miserable. It's like #borderlands karma.]
I agree. And we need to consider Bigby stated that Kei tried to kill him as a "favor" to someone. I would say that makes them responsible for Kei's death, as well. He wouldn't have been in your apartment if no one had armed him and sent him off to kill a person they suspected.

I am not making you "mom" me, Rhys.
[Taking those tissues and cleaning herself, though. Gosh.]
... But thank you.

He sniffs and waves a hand.]
What I wanna know is, who thought arming Kei was a good idea? What do we know about that fellow?
[Sniiiiiff.]
It seems pretty obvious why anyone would go after Miss Prosecutor, but that Bigby fella...oi, didn't someone vote for him during one the trials?
