trial #3

DAY 6 (afternoon)
Complex Population: 27

At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom.

"Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level."

Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need.

As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in.

You have until 7PM to discuss and vote for who you think the murderer is.

Another good question! Looks like you're one of the lucky ones who has brains among this crowd of fools, Alice.

[Who even know if that's a genuine compliment or not.]

It would've been so easy. Bigby was already vulnerable and to the point of death. Perhaps only one person can murder one other person - if the murderer fails, well, they just have to move onto another victim.

Wow, I'm so flattered.

[Said without the verbal ♡, so maybe she's not actually flattered.]

That's a possibility, I guess. This entire place has a lot of stupid, pointless rules as it is, so it's not the most improbable thing that they'd have rules for murder too.

It could explain why they don't murder more than one person, you know. They have to follow their little murderous code of honor in order to get results.

[True murder is done without rules. Alfendi thinks they're pathetic for even limiting themselves.]

If we find out their rules, that makes it much easier to work around them.

[She does perk up a little at that. Oh, god.]

You know what would be really funny? Is if we managed to kill one of them by playing by their rules. ♡

Oh, playing at their own game, huh? That'd be wonderful! Imagine, the prey becoming the predator...could you imagine the looks on their faces?

[DON'T INDULGE HIM, ALICE]

What a beautiful mental image...I'd love if that could happen. They need to get their just desserts.
selfsufficiency: (and you will drown in it)

It would be- [Oh god she's dizzy.] ...great...

[Well, she looks nauseous all of a sudden. Alfendi will probably get that, given that they both fell into the fountain the other night. Alice raises a hand in half a wave before stumbling off while still lugging Leo on her back to go find somewhere to sit down which explains why she'll be silent while I'm driving to work]

Yeah. I remember the sword still being fucking stuck inside me last. Someone had the bright idea of pulling it out and not finishing the job. Which is... confusing and a relief, I guess.

[ but he thinks upon it a little longer, all while running his fingers along the bandage on his shoulder to make sure it is secure. ]

Judy hates letting people keep weapons that are from this place. The ones used in the executions. Maybe we should ask if she's the one taking them on purpose. Can at least narrow down if the person who sent him came back to see if the job was done.

And the other weapon? The barbed one? Was he still holding it?

[THE CASE OF THE MISSING WEAPONS: START]

Very true. If he was not staff, she could've sent a staff member just to clean up afterwards...but really, it's funny! She allows people to keep weapons they've brought with them, but takes away the weapons that belong to the Complex? What a hypocritical woman.
