At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom.

"Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level."

Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need.

As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in.

You have until 7PM to discuss and vote for who you think the murderer is.

[ If you have a question you need to ask Judy during the trial, simply approach the bench. Apparently, that's all it takes, since she'll answer any questions you have through the intercom for everyone to hear. ]

[Alice feels absolutely miserable - and she looks it, too. But she at least remembered to fetch Leo from his room before the trial started and is literally dragging him around - she's draped both his arms over her shoulders and has him hefted up on her back.

This time, instead of addressing everyone as a whole first, she makes a beeline for the bench and addresses Judy with no small amount of venom in her voice.]

Medicine. Do you have any kind of medicine we can use? A bunch of us aren't feeling well and it's going to be really hard to find justice for the victim or whatever this sham of a trial is supposed to accomplish if we're all trying not to puke.

Unfortunately, I do not have any additional medicine to provide. All medicines currently available are listed in the commissary.

None of that has helped!

[She doesn't know what antibiotics are... she doesn't know they're medicine... they probably wouldn't help anyway even if she asked for them.]

What's the point of providing us with medicines if they don't work?!

All of the medication provided works as it is intended to work.

Can two staff members commit two murders in the same night? Given the circumstances, I think some clarity would be wise.

Theoretically, yes. However, only one under their given parameters is permitted. Any additional murders are their own decision and unrelated to the requirements of their position.

So in other words, one body per viewing room.

In short, yes. There are circumstances where more may be found and permitted by their guidelines, but these are edge cases. I can at least say that these two murders are wholly unrelated.

Ah, yes. I had meant to do so yesterday, but the chaos in the apartments was somewhat distracting.

They may choose to protect someone from the staff.

Is there any reason to do so? Would your shocks to attend the trial reach lethal dosage if someone were not to show up at all?

You keep records of things, right? Can you tell us who voted to abstain last time?

Correct. Revealing the votes is unconventional, since the anonymity is a courtesy, but there is no regulation against it.

[ There's a pause like Judy is considering something ]

For the purpose of your request, it is somewhat irrelevant, but as this would be setting a precedent, I would at least like to lay a ground rule. I will not reveal all of the votes from a previous trial. But I will reveal all votes associated with one choice, where all of you may pick whichever choice you are interested in.
