DAY 5 Complex Population: ??? It's 8AM, and you wake from that deep, dreamless sleep that enforces curfew as always. There's breakfast avaliable in the cafeteria if you want it, as well as meals from 11AM-12PM and 7PM-8PM, but otherwise? The day is yours. Take your time to explore the complex, relax, and enjoy each others' company, as who knows what the next day has in store? Though as you explore, you may notice that there's a new door unlocked and a new place for you to spend the day. Even better, it's two rooms! You'll find a dated computer lab, but at least you can play classics like Kid Pix and Ski Free. Connected to the lab is also a small movie theater, though the movie selection only goes up to 1940... Also, anyone taking a stroll by the fountain this morning may notice something odd about it. The water is red. — This post is for the first day as defined in the schedule. What, you mean people actually did that kind of thing?

Yes. Hundreds of years ago, settlers traveled from the eastern region of what is now known as the United States to reach the west.

But was it really that big of a deal? Why make a game out of it?

[She just doesn't get it.]

I imagine it translated well because the strategy needed to successfully reach the western territories could be adapted well to a game. It was an important historical and cultural event, too.

Whoever made it must have really had a lot of time on their hands.

I imagine they were compensated for creating the game.

They probably should've been paid a little more. Maybe then it would be more fun to play.

[She punctuates the observation with a sneeze, but at least has the good sense to cover her nose and mouth when she feels it coming on.]

I think it is interesting, even though it is... dark.

[Alice shrugs - she'd probably find the game more interesting if her wagon had died horribly, but somehow she'd made it to Oregon on her playthrough.]

I guess everyone has different things they like... I wonder what other kinds of games they have here, though.

[She wrinkles her nose.]

I haven't found anything that's helped. It's a real pain.

I wonder if we could persuade Judy to somehow add something useful to the commissary.

[though she honestly doubts it. she doesn't exactly have the most favorable opinion of judy.]

Maybe. It would be easier to convince her if we could see her in person, though.
