trial #2 - execution
![]() Complex Population: 32 At 7PM, a tone rings out, but it's not Judy's voice that filters out over the intercom. "TALLYING VOTES. . ." The voice is mechanical and robotic, and a pause lingers in the air. It seems that the voting system is run by some kind of AI. "CONSENSUS REACHED. MAJORITY VOTE. TIE. RESULT 1. LARA CROFT. STATUS: INNOCENT. LARA, PROCEED TO THE JUDGEMENT THEATER. CHARGING..." There's the sound of clicking, and Lara will receive a very sharp shock to their ankle monitor. If they don't step into the judgement room, the shock will increase in strength every ten seconds until they're unconscious. Regardless, the voice continues to drone on. "RESULT 2. LUKE CASTELLAN, EMPLOYEE ID VTSCI62271053. STATUS: INNOCENT. LUKE, PROCEED TO THE JUDGEMENT THEATER. CHARGING..." Luke receives the same treatment, and finally, the last player is decided in the same way: "DESIGNATING EXECUTIONER. . . ELIZABETH. ELIZABETH, PROCEED TO THE JUDGEMENT THEATER. CHARGING..." ic rulebook character statuses character profiles votes |

[ she clearly doesn't intent to treat him any differently. WHICH MEANS SHE IS BEING AS RUDE AND BLUNT AS EVER... ]
As to that, it's somewhere around there. The bird would know the exact amount of years better than I. Counting it never seemed important to me, and it's even less so after so many of them, don't you think...?

[It feels too strange to talk about himself as if he's a separate person - he frowns, slightly uncomfortable.]
The bird...? And, well, you have a point, but if I were to believe you, what made it that way? You don't look that old.
no subject
[ WHY NOT. she notes the discomfort but doesn't try to...comfort him...sorry. ]
Hm...I suppose you could call him something like family. As to what happened, it was just bad luck. I was a test subject for a certain man's quest for immortality. The bird was, as well. It seems to have gone away for now, though.

[Thanks Shijima...thanks for your continued and valuable moral support.........]
You were an experiment? [That's rough, buddy.] And I assume it succeeded, if you have lived that long?
no subject
[ PROBABLY RUDELY. ]
Mm, it did, but only for the two of us. Well, it's more of a pain than anything else, but...
[ ...she supposes it's fine? there's a very big mental block there by virtue of missing something important from her memories. shijima shrugs. ]
It didn't work for that man, however, he died. So we left all the corpses where they were and went wandering.
no subject
...Oh, goodness. That's rather a bad end for him. [He doesn't seem really that upset about the fact - just more interested.] You say corpses in plural...more researchers? Or more test subjects?

[ THEY WERE ALL ANIMALS, BTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ]

How did no one else know of it? I assume a big experiment like that would draw attention.

It was several centuries ago. They just cleaned up the mess when they found it, and no one spoke of it.
no subject
So it was kept under wraps? Well, I suppose that isn't too surprising.
What year did it happen?

[He only knows this because his father is a big archaeology nerd, it's rubbed off just a tad.]
I didn't know they had the technology to pull off something like that back then...
no subject
[ she's not the best at timelines... ]
"Technology" might be the incorrect word. It was more occult than that.
no subject
...Supernatural causes?
[He looks down at his glass of whiskey, before taking a large sip - he definitely needs to get more alcohol in him to start having this kind of conversation, clearly.]

[ a yawn. ]
It's a pain to talk about.
[ because she's lazy. NOT BECAUSE SHE FINDS HER TRAGIC BACKSTORY PARTICULARLY TRAGIC... ]

[Thanks, Shijima....]
Either way, if you're immortal...does that mean you can't get killed?
no subject
[ she presumably can stay dead, too, since her healing sure as heck isn't working. ]
