At noon, the same tone from the morning rings out, and Judy's voice filters out over the intercom.

"Good afternoon, residents. As per Safety Protocol 6227-A, it is time to conduct a trial to bring justice for the victim. Please proceed to the courtroom on the first level."

Just as at night, if you don't go to the courtroom, you'll be treated to an electric shock of increasing strength until you go to the courtroom or are unconscious. Though considering the ominous penalty for not participating in a trial, you should likely just go rather than risk not voting because you've been knocked out by your own stubbornness... Once you're in the courtroom, you'll find that bottled water and light snacks are provided, but otherwise you'll have to bring anything else you may need.

As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can step into the judgement theater to cast your vote at the terminal. You may change your vote as many times as you'd like, but at 7PM, your vote (or lack thereof) is locked in.

You have until 7PM to discuss and vote for who you think the murderer is.

And I'm inclined to believe you on that. The anklets... I'm not too sold on just yet, but it is the only common denominator we have.

If the staff are mixed among us, it would be dangerous to have it administered in something more wide-reaching, correct? Unless there is simply one room entirely of staff, which seems a dangerous thing to conclude. So, the anklet is a simpler solution.

That makes sense. [ Would it be area of effect? Something that could be contained? ] I don't much like the thought of sleeping with the enemy, but that seems more likely the case, yes.

[ She runs her hands through her hair as she thinks. ]

So why would they need the bracelet back? Evidence?

At any rate, I'm not sure how it helps us. It is the most likely reasoning behind how we never notice anyone going missing at night and stay asleep, though, correct...? Someone's anklet must be different...perhaps.

Seems about right. There's a proximity that we can't distinguish and I highly doubt these creators had made something with a flaw in their system.

[ This is rotten... She can't really pin any other theories out there. ]

Have you noticed your roommates being strange, by chance? Especially late at night?

No. If you're speaking about that guy's supposed personalities - and I doubt Bigby would lie - then he's never done it to me and seems fine. The guys are polite enough not to bother arguing for the bed. Alice is the same as ever, just a little sick with cold since we investigated that foot.

Ankle monitors are typically placed on prisoners under house arrest or parole, to keep track of them. [ with her hands on her hips, ] If these are the same way, perhaps it would be possible for us to reverse track where someone has been, yes. And checking the history of a victim's monitor would surely reveal where they were at what time, and cross referencing with our own, as well...

[ look she's mostly mumbling to herself toward the end there but it got her thinking ]

This place ain't that big. I'd say putting monitors on us is more than a bit excessive. Makes me wonder if they don't have some other function.

It'd help us more if we could dismantle our own since they're readily available and all that. Figure out how to disable the security a better way, since so far the only method that seems to work is...

Yeah, that's what it looks like. Pragmatism's gonna win out here. All that's left is to decide who's gonna offer up what we need.

I'm not sure who it will be. We're all so scattered, and there's no evidence... [ this is. the worst. ] Do you have any theories?

...Nah. If I'm to be honest, I'll probably follow with whoever Miss Prosecutor decides ought to be guilty.

[A shrug.]

'Cause all we've got are educated guesses. What about you, you got any yourself?

[Unlikely event: someone volunteers. Problem solved???]

[ shaking her head: ] Short of someone confessing... everyone seems suspicious to me.

Don't trust a soul, do ya? And here I thought some of us were all about making friends.

[He's joking, but also...genuinely surprised. He thought after her outburst at him last time, she'd vouch for everyone's innocence.]

You gonna close your eyes and point, then?

No. I could never. We don't need to play Russian Roulette. [ she's also too logical, hence the paranoia. ] But aren't you about to do so?

[He raises a hand.]

You got me. At least this time, however, there's a real plan following our inevitable mistake. That's worth something, ain't it?

[ fair. she'll offer him a tiny, tired smile. ]

I'll believe in that. Got to keep going, and we all need something to believe in.
