I'm not sure if they were trying to take it apart — in a literal sense, anyway. The terminals were relatively intact, and we know they've taken two ankle monitors by now. Perhaps they were trying to access the data inside the monitors, instead. Or there's something hidden inside the terminals we don't know about.

[Of course, this theory would incriminate anyone with anything computer related on their profile... including herself. But if it helps even the slightest bit, it's worth it.]
