DAY THREE

DAY 3
Complex Population: 33

It's 8AM, and you wake from that deep, dreamless sleep that enforces curfew as always.

There's breakfast avaliable in the cafeteria if you want it, as well as meals from 11AM-12PM and 7PM-8PM, but otherwise? The day is yours. Take your time to explore the complex, relax, and enjoy each others' company, as who knows what the next day has in store?

Though as you explore, you may notice that there's a new door unlocked and a new place for you to spend the day. There's a workshop and tinkering lab that you can now access. It includes everything from power tools to more terminals (so no need to crowd around the commissary terminal to chat with Judy anymore). As tempting as all these tools may be, they cannot be removed from the lab. Only completed projects may be taken out of the lab. That said, it seems like someone may have already been here, as there's blood smeared on one of the terminal's keyboards.

Also, anyone taking a stroll by the fountain this morning may notice something floating in the water: a boy's severed foot.

This post is for the first day as defined in the schedule. This post is for general mingling and CR buidling, and will not include significant plot interaction.

Mana? Like... magic, or something?

[ he's been involved in his fair share of supernatural things, but magic is an entirely different world altogether. ]

That sounds pretty convenient — it sounds more reliable than electricity, actually.

I would like that. Thank you, Dojima.

[it's with a smile that she takes the goggles and gloves, putting them on quickly.]

What do we do next?

Good. First we need to cut the wood in the right sizes [Dojima brings a large thin plank, covering almost the whole table, and takes an electric round saw, passing it to Ava] For that we'll use...

[Wait. No. This isn't a good idea]

...this may be too much for a complete beginner. [Dojima takes away the electric round saw and instead gives a traditional saw, with no electric components at all]

Try to use that. You'll need to apply some force but it should be a bit easier to control...I think.

[Here, have a plank. Dojima traces a relatively straight line from end to end and holds the wood down]

Give it a try. Be careful with your fingers.

Of course.

[while she takes the materials and looks over the instructions, she continues speaking to him.]

Is there anything in particular that has you interested in robotics, Adam?
turinged: (knowing them)

[personal profile] turinged 2016-10-17 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose that is true.

[she hadn't thought of that.]

Will you keep a weapon like this on your person, then?
turinged: (all my life i wonder)

[personal profile] turinged 2016-10-17 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Even if there are people with more complicated names than mine, you still performed well. I think you will be able to remember them all soon.

[she gives her an encouraging smile.]

What?

[ he says this with the UTMOST DISMAY. ]

No pizza? Where are you from?
turinged: (living in the sun)

[admittedly, she does look a bit relieved when he takes away the first tool and gives her the regular saw, so that's probably a good call. she puts a gloved hand on the wood (far from where she's cutting, of course) to steady it before moving the tool back and forth through the wood several times.]

Am I doing this correctly?
becauseimacoward: (35)

[personal profile] becauseimacoward 2016-10-17 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Try to use a bit more of strength.

[But you're doing well, Ava]

[personal profile] turinged 2016-10-18 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
[since he's holding it, then, she removes one of her hands from the wood to hold the saw with both hands, using more pressure this time]

Is this better?

2281. Most food is either grown from the ground, or hunted on the land.

[ ugh. this time travel business is going to give him a headache. he still isn't sure he believes it, but what's the alternative? literally everone in the base pulling a bizarrely elaborate prank on him? ]

2281... Right. [ a frown. ] That sounds kinda grim. I thought we'd be living in spaceship by then.

I'll be back before you know it.

[He returns pretty soon with a large wine glass, empty, but he wasn't allowed to take any alcohol bottles back]

Well, I couldn't find ice... but try putting this on your face. It may help.
mansplains: ((What?))

[personal profile] mansplains 2016-10-21 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Welll--- kind of, but not for the reasons you're thinking. I have a hard time getting close to women. It's nothing personal.

[Just pathetic]
chiseler: (breaking in a sweat)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-10-21 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's leaning back with his eyes closed by the time Guy returns but. He opens an eye and stares for a moment.]

...Guy you know that's a wine glass right? You think it'll help? [But he's still reaching out for the cool glass.]
mansplains: ((What?))

[personal profile] mansplains 2016-10-22 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it's better than nothing. At least it's cool, maybe it'll help with the inflammation a little.

[Look, he tried, and therefore no one can criticize him!!] I'll look for a wet cloth later.
