DAY THREE

DAY 3
Complex Population: 33

It's 8AM, and you wake from that deep, dreamless sleep that enforces curfew as always.

There's breakfast avaliable in the cafeteria if you want it, as well as meals from 11AM-12PM and 7PM-8PM, but otherwise? The day is yours. Take your time to explore the complex, relax, and enjoy each others' company, as who knows what the next day has in store?

Though as you explore, you may notice that there's a new door unlocked and a new place for you to spend the day. There's a workshop and tinkering lab that you can now access. It includes everything from power tools to more terminals (so no need to crowd around the commissary terminal to chat with Judy anymore). As tempting as all these tools may be, they cannot be removed from the lab. Only completed projects may be taken out of the lab. That said, it seems like someone may have already been here, as there's blood smeared on one of the terminal's keyboards.

Also, anyone taking a stroll by the fountain this morning may notice something floating in the water: a boy's severed foot.

This post is for the first day as defined in the schedule. This post is for general mingling and CR buidling, and will not include significant plot interaction.

Oh, that's... [Well, he supposes that'd be the next best thing. Since there's no Real outside, if Dojima's smoking where there's no one around, then it'd be fine.

Though it's ideal if he didn't do it at all... nudge, nudge.]

That's fine for now. But, there's also a lot of kids here, so please be careful not to expose them to the smoke!

[ boys, boys, there's enough lara croft for each of you. she'll actually take to luke's side, leaning over to inspect his nose with a hint of worry in her face. ]

Of course I'm taking his side. Been here for not even 72 hours and you break your nose... [ there's a sigh, and then: ] Unless you want to know how to gut a deer, I'm afraid I don't have any ideas. Usually, we had a cook on board, or we ate canned food. Whichever way our luck swung that trip.

[ plus the first time she killed for meat was kind of awful and she doesn't want the boys to go through that? this is bad enough! ]

Why not? [ she'll always ask that question, of course. ] People appreciate a great mechanic.

[ but lara supposes she can't really avoid the question of what she's seen on her travels. with a tilt of her head, she answers. ] Strange things... like a long dead Queen-Priestess nearly reborn, or an ancient cult alive and well. [ undead armies... things. you know, the normal stuff an archaeologist encounters. ] This is still brilliant. You could do some amazing things with these, Adam. A robot with a camera and wheels could be used for excavations.

[ she'll oblige, taking up a stool casually, because dumpy isn't here which means she can listen. she's all for listening. you learn a lot by listening, you know, and lara is one of those nerds who always wants knowledge.

his title as ceo doesn't surprise her, because even if he's sitting here shirtless, his slacks look to be of a fine quality. a company man through and through.

...also who else can afford a fucking robot arm. it's a fascinating thing, an lara leans closer with a curious gaze before turning back to rhys. ]

If it fit the company image, then sleeve length wouldn't have mattered, would it? [ but really, it's cool. she likes it a lot. even if his nipple peeking out is fucking weird? ] It reminds me of something you'd see on the walls of ruins. Perhaps even in the tomb of a king. Is it just a design you liked or did you pick it for a reason?

Definitely not. [Dojima shrugs] I ask you because you're one of the two who could know how to do it. It's either you or that Jack guy.

[Dojima went for Rhys first mainly because of the robotic arm, taking it as indication of technological prowess]

Why would people not want magic to be seen? [Could it be there was magic all along around him in Inaba and he never saw it?]

I know I shouldn't. It's the kind of thing that's obvious for a father. [Dojima smiles wistfully]

...someone has to look for the kids in this place. There are three in my apartment, you know. There's something I should do to make sure nothing happens to any of them, but I don't know what yet.

[Well, Adam is almost an adult, and Leo is right behind, but since Dojima is the oldest person by at least three decades he feels he should responsible for all of them]

Is it a friend of yours here, or will you take it back to your home with you?

[a light smile.]

Either way, it is a nice idea.
turinged: (hungry for the histories they show me)

[personal profile] turinged 2016-10-12 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
[she thinks on that question for a moment, giving him a curious look.]

I imagine someone here would be able to help you. Many of them are kind and caring. Why do you ask? Are you feeling unwell, or is the lack of suitable nutrition concerning you?
turinged: (all my life i watch them)

[personal profile] turinged 2016-10-12 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I would be glad to assist you. Would you like to start alphabetically?

[she offers the other girl a smile, one she hopes is reassuring.]

Oh, a father? How old is your child, or children?

[Mitsutada is also sort of a family man, so he perks up at the potential of children.]

But, yeah. I understand. My other roommate and I, Guy was his name I think, have sort of taken up the role of taking care of the two girls in our apartment. Especially after the events earlier, we know that not even kids are safe so... we have to do our best to protect them.

[personal profile] turinged 2016-10-12 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
If we could make a lock, or some kind of barrier from reaching these items, that may work. The obstacle would be whether we could construct something, wouldn't it?
mitsubou: (pic#10646746)

[personal profile] mitsubou 2016-10-12 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
He's here now, actually. You might've heard of him or seen him around. His name is Kara-chan -- or rather, it's Ookurikara -- and he always looks pretty grumpy, but he's a good guy at heart! I promise.

[Ah yes, a chance to gush.]

You think so? I thought it'd be cool too, but it might be too complicated. I could just make a wooden sword rack for him instead...
turinged: (living in the sun)

[personal profile] turinged 2016-10-12 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
[she shakes her head, not seeming to find the subject awkward as he does]

I know some things about technology, but not how to create a robot.

[personal profile] becauseimacoward 2016-10-12 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
I have some skills that could be useful. It's nothing amazing, and the problem would be to make sure it can't be destroyed to reach the tools. [Which is something Dojima isn't sure how to do]

If I can place a barrier right before the curfew starts it should keep the tools away until the morning.

Nanako is seven years old, her birthday was a couple months ago. She may be alone at home right now. I hope she has managed to find someone to stay with while I'm here.

[Dojima would feel so much calmer about this all if he could at least talk to Nanako]

Because it's hard for them to comprehend. It's easier for them to think that the power went out because people had too many things plugged in instead of a surge in magical energy.

I guess it's nice to have things be simple like that.

[personal profile] antietam 2016-10-12 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
[ He looks a bit upset by that suggestion and he looks down at his half-built robot. ] I'm working too hard to let myself become a mechanic. I want more than that. [ If he didn't like Lara so much, he might have had a worse reaction to that. But she helps him feel more mature.

... Also he forgets about it when she starts talking about her adventures. ]
You're not joking, are you? [ Why would she lie to him? ] Do you know how? How the Queen-Priestess was almost reborn? [ Look he might need that in the future with Glendower. ] I could show you how to build the base of the robot, at least, but I don't think we have cameras.
antietam: (pic#10444122)

[personal profile] antietam 2016-10-12 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
[ That gets a hum of consideration and he decides it's probably alright to go back to tinkering with his robot, using the tool she gave him. ]

So you don't have an innate knowledge of, say, how to create an AI? Do you want to learn how to make a robot?
selfdenying: (Default)

[personal profile] selfdenying 2016-10-12 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
Are you saying you'll worry the staff will tamper with the scene?

[Hm. A fair point. They don't know how much time the staff has overall when they murder a body, do they?]

That could be true, but even so... a tampered crime scene isn't perfect. People are fallible and make mistakes - there's the very likely chance they'll slip up and expose themselves through something they overlooked.

[His smile widens.]

Even in a lie, you can find a truth.
selfdenying: (like a girl changes clothes)

[personal profile] selfdenying 2016-10-12 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
Is there any possible way at all we can go through a trial without someone dying?

And by the way, I guess you won't reveal the number of staff members since there will be no possible way we'll abstain next time.
modissty: (hm?)

[personal profile] modissty 2016-10-12 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
[PROBABLY NOT just on the off chance someone takes her seriously. Or in case a mcmurderer is listening in and looking for ideas...]

Well... I suppose without doing so, it would make a person far less capable of helping out where it matters.
modissty: (wanderlust)

[personal profile] modissty 2016-10-12 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
[PLAYING ALONG ENCOURAGES MORE BAD JOKES.

But he'll nod in response to that, after pausing for a second because I bought my arm myself is definitely a foreign thing to hear...]

There are a lot of things here that we don't have where I come from... I've never seen anything like that before.
modissty: (wistful)

[personal profile] modissty 2016-10-12 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
That, yes - or that we may simply miss some things because we can't scour the room thoroughly.

[But that's a reassuring thing to hear right now, honestly, and he finds himself smiling a little bit in turn.]

When you say it like that, the situation feels a little less hopeless.

[ when you're talking to cans, you need help. lara's familiar with canned food! she can handle this! lara can handle everything, actually. trust me. ]

What are you trying to do?

[ just warm it up? or do something else with it? ]
