DAY 8 (morning) Complex Population: 19 It's 8AM, and you wake from that deep, dreamless sleep that enforces curfew as always. Of course, some of you might be waking up due to a rather alarming reason. — NOTE: This day post will be run slightly differently because of the large amount of things to be discovered. Please indicate where your character is in the subject line of your toplevel, and a mod will reply to conduct the investigation. Please note that some areas may be dangerous, and your characters may be injured, but characters will not be killed (unless you want them to be). This post is for the second day as defined in the schedule. [ even though dazai knows ookurikara is having a rough time and may not be at his best right now, it's still so surprising to see him go along with these suggestions. in fact, he's so surprised that he'll actually take a moment to genuinely thank him for... you know. being cooperative. ]

[ anyway! after he's finished taking care of kuri's right arm, he takes his his roll of bandages in one hand, and start wrapping strips around his torso in a similar manner — pulling it taut enough for kuri to breathe properly and for it to stop the bleeding. his work is quick and neat, and even someone who's never seen first aid before will know that he has some considerable level of skill in bandaging.

once the worst of kuri's injuries have been patched up, he'll lean back on the stool, returning some of his personal space back to him. ]

That should do it. If something feels uncomfortable, don't hesitate to tell me. [ such as if he's wrapped something too tightly, but usually, he doesn't make those mistakes. ]

It's fine. [ IT IS but even if it wasn't, he wouldn't really complain. It just all feels surreal to him still? It all hasn't quite sunken in for him yet...everything that happened today doesn't feel like it's real. Like it's all some horrible nightmare he's going to wake up from --

he was so sure that at least Mitsutada would be fine. Who would go after him when he's been so nice and caring to everyone? Maybe trusting people too much but that's the kind of person that staff would want around, right? He was too naive to think that and he paid the price. As guilty as he now thinks everyone else still alive is, he's not exempt from that guilt either. Not with how he promised to protect Mitsutada over and over again, to always be by his side and watch his back.

HE SIGHS and spares Dazai a glance. He doesn't give thanks but he asks him (1) thing. ] Your room. Do you have space there? [ He pretty much left his apartment burning -- not that he cares. He wouldn't want to go back there where he and Mitsutada often where anyway so it's probably better that it burned. ]

[He's not one to argue about semantics, at least - about the "who's right, who's wrong" in situations involving death. Shying away from claiming responsibility for lost lives isn't really in his code of ethics anyway.

Please clean yourself up, in that case. Leaving wounds untended to will only lead to infection, and if you're ill, you won't be able to deliver what's due to the person responsible.

[Just automatically assuming Revenge Path is what's going to happen since that is 100% the path he'd go down. Holding out the bottle and towel...]

[WELL... At least they know Alfendi can move. Good work team, 10/10, excellent handling of awful situations.]

I haven't seen him yet, speaking of, but I assume he also needs medical attention... How were the others in your room?

[ there's one thing that dazai has learned so far in these past few days — and it's that these bandages go far in this place, even further than weapons. this also means that he'll run out eventually, but he'll cross that bridge when he gets there.

but he does look up when ookurikara speaks again, blinking in surprise, because kuri just seems to be full of twists and turns today. ]

My room? There's three of us now, including me, so I'd say that the amount of space you get isn't the best. But it also isn't too loud, so it works for all of us.

[ and of course, he knows what kuri's getting at. ]

If you're okay with being the fourth person there, we wouldn't mind having you.

[ Since he was asked nicely -- Ookurikara takes what's offered without thanks and picks out the shrapnel that's visible. This requires some precision since some are smaller than others and he's actually favoring his left because his right was more so injured than anything when he reached out earlier...

he tries hard to not show it but when he rolls up his shirt, he flinches and practically hisses from pain. The biggest and most of his wounds are on the right side of his body. Nothing below the waist but his ribs and arm are something of a mess. It looks worse than it feels but it's annoying all the same. Especially cleaning it on his own. ] When I saw Mitsutada's body. I didn't think about it when I went in to the fountain. [ He zeroed in right on recovering it. ] I didn't think someone, the staff or whoever, would have planted a bomb there.

Wasn't just killing him enough? Ugh. [ JUST THINKING ABOUT IT IS MAKING HIM ANGRY AGAIN ]

[Sakyou will pick up the pieces of shrapnel that Ookurikara discards in the meantime, placing them into his palm so he can throw them away properly later. The poor dude has enough to worry about without also having to clean up after himself, if he'd even think to do so.

For the rest of that, he just listens quietly while Ookurikara talks. It definitely seems like an insult-to-injury situation... Like just a little extra push that wasn't necessary.]

I would imagine that that was what they were expecting. So far, no one has had any trouble retrieving the bodies... Only a few would think to be cautious at this point. I'd imagine they intended to kill even more people like this. It's good fortune that you survived.

[ "Now" he says...that gives Ookurikara slight pause but he doesn't comment on it. He's been given at least somewhere to stay for the nights that may or may not come for him so it's...something to keep him going. If for Mitsutada's sake and not his own. ]

I appreciate it. I didn't exactly stick around a burning apartment building when I woke up alone today. [ HE SIGHS again. This is going to take some getting used to but he'll manage and he won't eat Steve -- ]

[ IT TAKES EVERY FIBER OF HIS BEING to say that he wished he hadn't that's too morbid for all the lives lost today. Even for his tactless ass...but anyway. It's interesting to hear the rest though, he wonders if there were other explosions and situations like his this morning? His isolated incident does make him wonder why these were so different from before but...he looks at Mitsutada's sword and squints.

Maybe something to bring up at the trial later in the day but for now, he'll relay his current thoughts to Sakyou, if only to think aloud. ] Still. They could have just gotten rid of the bodies before we found them this morning. Why the extra step? It's like they wanted a couple of us to get injured.

[ THE PLOT THICKENS but at least his wounds are clean and he's free of shrapnel. ]

Once he looks like he's done cleaning, Sakyou holds his hands out again to take the bottle and cloth back.]

Do you think anything needs stitching? [EYEBALLIN... those cuts... But on the topic of Night Of Chaos:]

Normally I would guess that it's because they want to make us easier to kill off later, but with the way their usual kills have gone, I don't think that our physical capabilities are of much concern to them one way or another... Really, I can't think of any reason other than to create a distraction or because they had intended for the blasts to be lethal.

[Resourcefulness, or flailing. It's up for debate. But when he points out the new addition to her outfit, her expression turns deeply uncomfortable.]

... I didn't.

[The control collar she arrived with is tucked away where she can't see it, so it's not like she's in the habit of wearing something like this to bed. It's making her feel anxious and jittery and trapped — but there's no point in freaking out.]

Whoever set the fire in our room must have placed it on me.

[ He's still pretty mortified that it's that obvious, one, and two, that Elizabeth was the one to notice it. Considering he'd explicitly made a point about not doing things like this, he's pretty embarassed to be so immediately proved wrong... He's half expecting a lecture to that effect, but when Elizabeth is actually sympathetic and then kind, his gaze flickers to with surprise, but then back away with a sort of petulance. ]

...Well, uh.

[ He pauses, since he's really surprised by how nice this is?? He wouldn't be nearly this nice about it, but that at least gets him to relax to some degree. ]

That... would probably be suspicious, right? Like, if we weren't about to go walk into a trial thing, sure, but... Might just be better to be h... onest... [ he sounds so reluctant about it though ]

[ She seems a bit distant, but it's mainly because she's super not feeling good. Elizabeth isn't worried about his affairs - even if she has the sinking suspicion he's betrayed her. She doesn't want to. She's had enough of believing people turn on her in her life time.

She's sitting down carefully on the stool at the bar, tense with her form. ]

You lucked out - whoever got a bit overeager with their attacks spared a few people. Guess the scar was enough pity.

[ Elizabeth will try her best to tend to him. He might be gross with his toilet paper bandage, but she's resourceful enough to use the first aid kit to their advantage. She'll wait until he shows off the wound, she'll close the distance so she can at least clean him off. Sorry for the pressure, bro. ]

I think I'll need a few stitches. I have someone who can do it if you can't.

[ She smiles a bit even if she's pained. ]

Don't push yourself, alright? You gathering us all here is a good show of know-how. We all need a damn drink after this.

[At least someone here has good medical know-how that doesn't involve toilet paper... And at least Sakyou is a good patient. He won't flinch or fuss or anything as she works.]

I can do that, certainly.

[As long as it's well-cleaned beforehand at least, and as long as she knows how to tend to it after, considering it's mostly aftercare that screws him over in the end...

That last comment also earns her a little laugh, even if it's one of those Stress Laughs.]

I suppose that's true as well. It's no wonder that this is one of the most well-stocked areas in this entire building...
