DAY 8 (morning) Complex Population: 19 It's 8AM, and you wake from that deep, dreamless sleep that enforces curfew as always. Of course, some of you might be waking up due to a rather alarming reason. — NOTE: This day post will be run slightly differently because of the large amount of things to be discovered. Please indicate where your character is in the subject line of your toplevel, and a mod will reply to conduct the investigation. Please note that some areas may be dangerous, and your characters may be injured, but characters will not be killed (unless you want them to be). This post is for the second day as defined in the schedule. [Yeah, no. Ease that heart rate a little, Rhys, because the intermittent shocks will get the slightest bit stronger as he lurches back. This is about the only time she'll be thankful for her father electrocuting her whenever his anger spiked — but that's not important. She's smart enough to take a hint when she sees one, and allows him his personal space.]

I did. The smoke and the fire, both. Seems like someone tried their hand at mass arson overnight.

[She could joke about it, really. Setting five out of eight apartments on fire is just excessive, but. Dickson is dead. There is a collar on her neck. She feel like her airway is being constricted. It's far too much in far too little time.]

It's— It's a collar. Same as yours, I believe. [Her throat feels funny and she's trying to swallow around the lump stuck in it. It's not working.] ... It may have been crafted from the monitors taken by the staff. Or constructed similarly, at the very least. I've received several shocks since I woke up. I presume... it's the same for you.

[But. She shakes her head, digging her nails into the palms of her hands in an attempt not to freak out over having yet another collar around her neck. Her prison is getting smaller, and smaller and this is the last thing she needs.]

But first is first. I have another first aid kit in my apartment. We can share supplies and — fix you up. We can't risk an infection.

At least it's just a concussion.

[He says, quietly. His heart keeps pounding, and he feels a keen sense of fear he knows is familiar, but he can't exactly pinpoint. The fear of death. He hates it.]

Well, no, but this one was brutal enough to break most of her limbs.

You're the only one who got to see the condition of the body, I'm afraid. But I will take your word for it. Do you feel up to moving? We should have you drink some water, probably.

It wouldn't be surprising if that were the case... The more chaos they cause, the harder it will be for us to focus in trial and catch one of them properly.

[After a second of rummaging around, he'll turn to hold out a bar towel, too.]

[ELIZABETH!! But there are a lot of people and Sakyou's definitely got no time to stop and stab himself with sewing needles, probably.]

I've cleaned it up and I've blotted out the bleeding with tissue from the bathroom for now. It's best to help others now before it starts to clot, though. I wouldn't want to risk reopening it once I'm able to rest.

Mm, I'll clean it and see if I can get a better look at how deep it is with the blood cleaned up a bit.

[JACK... Good lord, did no one escape from last night unscathed? Sakyou notices the bruises, but he's looking for stab wounds first, just in case. As for the question:]

I'm certainly faring better than some. [That's sure an understatement.] But it looks like many of us were made targets...

[ Elizabeth has just had a Morning, okay. She eases up when he apologizes and she waves him off. She had enough cigarettes for a lifetime, but there's an itch for one - she'll have it when the smoke seems to die down from her clothes. ]

I'm fine.. just... a little on edge.

[ Elizabeth will definitely have no shame at this point - not when she's bleeding. ]

H-Hah... I mean, it's not bad... right? I've never been stabbed... but the blood seemed to have slowed when I put pressure on it.

[That self-control deserves some accolades though, damn. Sakyou feels pretty dang bad for the people who look worse for wear - which is a lot of them, considering the current state of affairs.]

Do you need any help? I have alcohol for disinfecting and a few bar towels... I'll go fetch some sheets to make bandages, too, if you need any. Ah - and we did find at least one set of needle and thread.

Even if Sakyou's not in that group of rare people, he still isn't just gonna leave a bleeding sick-looking dude sitting out here alone, though. In one of his rounds through the injured crowd, he'll be slipping over. The bottle of vodka in his hand is halfway empty already, and he has a clean bar towel in the other one.]

[THE REAL INCREDIBLE TURNOUT OF THE DAY...]

Two people is still quite a number... More of us keep turning up, too. But I wonder - if someone went through the trouble of doing this, why not just - finish the job, so to say?

[His hand raises, touching the bloody mark on his shoulder.]

[well, he is alive, that's not wrong...

either way, it's a good enough warning, though alvin still can't help but to hiss a little from how much that actually stings. he's gotten his share of injuries before, at least, so he can hold it together pretty well...

it's not the worst wound, at least. clearing the blood away will reveal that there's no way it's deep enough to have hit any vitals, though it would definitely impede, say, wielding a sword, especially in his right hand. it's probably about three quarters of an inch or so deep and about two inches long. not pretty, but definitely not the worst, especially since he's clearly not about to die.

(the blood loss may eventually catch up to him a little bit, but the adrenaline is keeping him pretty lucid.)]

Possibly... It's the traps I'm more concerned about for now, though. If they had time to set one or two, there are likely more around.

Honestly, I don't know why people weren't being cautious to start with. Everything was on fire...just assume the worst and don't touch things all haphazardly.

[He nods, slowly moving to push himself up - he winces a lot when he presses on his left hand, but he manages to use the wall to help himself onto his feet. He feels very dizzy.]

Just give me a second. [He swallows.] Water would be good. And someone needs to stitch up my hand, I'm not going to just walk around with this thing bleeding all over me.

[ a sigh. she will let him balance off of her if need be, too. ]

I know I said I'd throw my lot in with all of you, but really...I had to pick the group most likely to be injured, didn't I...? Oh well...

[ Jack is looking at her wound again quickly enough, since the comment that she's never been stabbed before makes it spike up again quickly enough. Stabbings are... weirdly normal where he's from? So he's gotten stabbed before, sure. Who hasn't? He's about to give some helpful tips, but Elizabeth ends up focusing back on his neck. He glances up at her with an expression that seems to say "please don't," but. ]

Ssssh!! [ He shushes her sharply as he leans close with a mildly horrified expression, but it's quickly followed by an exasperated groan as he pulls at his face. ] Ughhh, look, things just. Got out of hand. I don't know. Goddammit.

[ He murmurs the last part into his hands, but then looks up at her with an exaggerated expression of exasperation. ]

Just. Don't say anything. I know. I know.

Hey, at least we're all alive. Can't say that about the other groups, right?

[He lets out a laugh, but it's a hollow one. He doesn't know how long this whole "being alive" thing will last. He'd honestly though he'd be dead, today. He leans on her as he walks forward, grimacing at the salsa of coprse meat around them. Ugh.]

[ She says with a wince, twisting her body to dig into the first aid kit to get the disinfectant cream and some medical tape. ]

Let me help to the best of my ability to at least clean the wound. I won't...stitch it, though. Since that's your concern.
