DAY THREE

DAY 3 Complex Population: 33 It's 8AM, and you wake from that deep, dreamless sleep that enforces curfew as always. There's breakfast avaliable in the cafeteria if you want it, as well as meals from 11AM-12PM and 7PM-8PM, but otherwise? The day is yours. Take your time to explore the complex, relax, and enjoy each others' company, as who knows what the next day has in store? Though as you explore, you may notice that there's a new door unlocked and a new place for you to spend the day. There's a workshop and tinkering lab that you can now access. It includes everything from power tools to more terminals (so no need to crowd around the commissary terminal to chat with Judy anymore). As tempting as all these tools may be, they cannot be removed from the lab. Only completed projects may be taken out of the lab. That said, it seems like someone may have already been here, as there's blood smeared on one of the terminal's keyboards. Also, anyone taking a stroll by the fountain this morning may notice something floating in the water: a boy's severed foot. — This post is for the first day as defined in the schedule. [ Nope, that gets a blank look until it's explained. ] Well, do you think it's more likely that he's crazy or that these people have mastered time travel? Because, I don't know... there are a lot of them.

Jack says he's never even heard of Earth or the Milky Way, Leo is... some sort of servant and has never heard of the United States. But then there are people like us.

Ugh. You're so determined about this. [ BUT FINE. Ookurikara will relent for now because that's easier than arguing with this guy...except he'll reach over and turn the drill off before they get started.

He looks over the manual again and goes around collecting what they'll need for this. Apparently, you're supposed to wear some kind of safety goggles for your eyes so he'll plop some on and put a pair on Mitsutada as well. He looks weird with glasses and the eyepatch but safety first...smfh... ] Now we can do it.

[ That manages to get a small smile from him, though it's vaguely worried. She's just a kid and their last victim was just a kid. ] I know a girl who's about your size and she's pretty intimidating. I don't think anyone would mess with her.

But... no, people aren't feeling too generous right now. We have every reason not to trust each other. So you shouldn't make a deal with someone without observing them a little first. Find the people who seem really dedicated to exposing the staff members.

That's just how I've been working this out.

[ He only realizes it's Lara with him when she speaks and he jumps a little. He looks a bit ashamed for having her get something for him. ]

Thank you. There's a lot of jargon here, but it all feels pretty natural. That's what I like about fixing things. Each piece has a purpose and once you understand that purpose, it's easy to figure out where it goes. See, now that I can screw this in...

It'd be uncool if I didn't get a chance to show off too. [Yes... he also didn't want Ookurikara to get frustrated if he couldn't do it on his own, since he knows what kind of person he is.]

Sounds good! Looks like we need a bunch of shaped pieces of wood, first. [Most of what's around is a lot of long pieces of lumber so... they'll need to cut it. u know what that means.]

[ Oh. She's serious. Some of the amusement fades into interest instead, since Jack had been joking around about the radiation, but she actually sounds like she has to deal with it. It's something he knows enough about, albeit in a very different context, unbeknownst to him. ]

Oh- Yeah, I've heard radiation poisoning is a bitch. Actually uh... Had some people working under me get it when we had some shielding failures, but-- Ehhh, whatever, that's boring. [ He shrugs a bit sheepishly, since talking about workplace accidents and how he'd managed them isn't exactly the thrilling conversation topic. In fact, the cans in front of them are probably more interesting than that... ]

More seriously I guess, how's the stock look? Starving actually a concern here?

Time travel is impossible, there shouldn't be any doubt about it. It can't be possible he actually is... [He was rather sure it was all an act, until now, that is]

What's going on with this place and these people? Did everyone go insane and I didn't know? It can't all be true!

[What Dojima just asked sounds kind of stupid, but this was sprung onto him by surprise and he has a bit of a hard time trying to wrap his mind around it. Is everyone long-lived a sword?]

[She hears what he says, but doesn't quite register it through her fog of thoughts. What happened to Charles is just far too suffocating, no matter how much she tries to distance herself from it. He was a child, and he was in her room. It's simply inexcusable that it happened.

The question on the stock does get her back on track though, her eyes going back to Jack and then to the cans.]

We'll be fine, from the looks of it. So long as we don't overeat... Judy told me that they replenish the stock from their own resources, but that supply is finite as well. We need to be careful about our intake, and be fair to everyone.

Hmm, Kara-chan -- er, Ookurikara -- is also a sword, yes. I don't think Kurookano is one, though.

[He's never seen her around, so he assumes not. She might be something entirely different.]

But, you're right about me and Kara-chan. I was once owned by the amazing Date Masamune, and... I think he gave me my name! "Shokudaikiri", that is.

Why was I brought into this place? It seems like everyone but me has something weird going on, and here I am, coming from a perfectly normal town, with a completely mundane life.

[Right? Mitsutada doesn't know who this guy is, but there's probably something cool and amazing about him!]

You should have more faith in yourself! Maybe you just can't remember something really important...? Or maybe it's because you're so normal that you've been chosen to stand out from the rest of us.

[Well, sooooomebody's cranky. Guy had come to use the commissary himself, but after seeing Alfendi blow him off like that -- huh, something seems off - he raises an eyebrow]

Easy. I didn't know you were in here.

Are you upset about what happened before? [The execution, he means]

[Dojima takes out a cigarette. Good time as any for a smoke, although he doesn't light up the cigarette yet]

I do have faith on myself. It's just that I'm not used to this kind of...things, and if I have something strange going on with myself and I don't remember it, I'll have to accept it, I guess.

[He smiles wryly]

I suppose I'll get used to all this at some point. For now I won't think too hard about how impossible some of the stuff I have heard these days sound.

Maybe next time you should look, you know, with your eyes. You have those, right?

[He taps the pen against the paper with obvious annoyance, turning himself around slightly to face Guy - his tone is harsh, far beyond the nice and neat voice of the Alfendi most people know.]

What are you talking about?! Me blacking out for god knows how long? Because yes, I'm definitely upset about that, who the hell wouldn't be?

[HE SEEMS UNCONVINCED but maybe he'll try doodle-remembering later...

When the bag is passed over, he takes it politely, looking a little surprised.]

[ It's typical Jack that he doesn't quite notice that there's a problem until he's already been rambling on. The distance is a little clearer to him because he's an asshole, so he notices that she's not quite listening, but it doesn't really bother him. ]

Huh... Good to know. I'll- Well, I'll at least take it easy on the snacking knowing that.

[ But now that he's noticed it... He can't just ignore it. He does pause awkwardly, since it's probably a bit odd to ask a stranger, but, hey. He figures none of them are going to be strangers that much longer, all things considered here. ]

[ lara croft and her two teenage sons. it's good to seem smiles on their faces; they're both young. too young for this. keep your spirits up, boys. "ms. croft" sounds so professional, and from adam, it makes her feel a bit like a professor. lara is certainly not that, but she wouldn't be surprised if it was easiest to relate to her as such.

but she nods toward adam. ] Let me join you.

[ THE BOYS... she loves them. a pair of troublemakers. if they don't scoot for her, she'll steal a seat from the bar and pull it over. ]

You're lucky someone's got the knowledge to make something for you, Luke. As long as no one has gotten sick off the food here, it's worth a shot. I've had worse experiences with the food during excursions. We make do with what we've got.

[Copper wire is about the only thing he 100% gets there, and his expression falls a little. Being so consistently useless is a struggle, honestly.]
